Introduction.
The Department of Economics was established in the year 1956 by the
introduction of B.A course with one of the optional subject as Economics in
the College. The B.A course was started in English medium only. Later on
Telugu medium B.A. section was also introduced in the College due to the
demand. In 1978, a new vocational course of B.A.(Rural Industries) with
Commerce as one of the subject was introduced in the College.
Our Vision

To mould the Institution as a potential centre of excellence by providing

the rural & marginalized sections of the students an exposure to
contemporary society, knowledge and skill related to life and
employment.

To provide, promote and to disseminate quality education in the fields

of Arts, Science, and Commerce to suit the needs of the society and to
serve for the upliftment of the unprivileged.

Introduction of M.A.(Economics) PG Course in the College:

The M.A.(Economics) PG course sanctioned by C.C.E. Government of Andhra
Pradesh VIDE Proceeding No. R.C 60/Adm-I-1/2010 dated 25-9-2010 to this
College. The sanctioned strength of the course was 30 students. Out of 30
selected candidates of PG course, 14 selected were studied their B.A. course
in this College.
ACTION PLAN:
In future to strength the Department of Economics and to get benefit
from Economics subjects of B.A. students, we want to undertake the
following different measures. They are
(a) Field Trips
To understand economic problems of rural industries, agriculture sectors and
rural economy to students, we want to undertake field trips to different
places in the District and state of Andhra Pradesh along with staff in a twice
year.
(b)Project Work
To gain more knowledge and command on Economics subject, we want to
give Project Work to both B.A and M.A students. To complete this project, the
Department staff will give necessary guidance to concern students.
( c) Seminars
In coming years, we want to hold a state level or National level UGC
seminars on Economics topics to create awareness of latest developments
in Economics subject to concern lecturers and students.

(d) Workshop
To get advance knowledge in Economics subject and syllabus, we want to
organize different workshops on Economics subject to get benefit to
students and teaching staff of Economics subject.
USEFULNESS OF SUBJECT
Economics subject are very useful to students in many ways. For example it
can able to solve not only Individuals economic problem but also useful in
solving Countrys economic problems though formulations of economic

policies. The students of Post Graduate course with Research experience will
get job opportunities as Lecturers. Research Assistant in Different
Unversities and Economic study centers. It also gives jobs in Commercial
Banks as Economic Adivisers.More important thing is that the Graduate and
Post Graduate of Economics subject can enter Central Civil Services by
Passing Indian Economic Services(I.E.S).
