METHODOLOGY

INGREDIENTS:
Guava leaves
NaOH (Caustic Soda or Lye)
Water
Vegetable Oil
Water
MATERIALS:
Aluminum container
Basin
Extra container
Measuring cups or spoons

Stove
Molder
Wooden spoon or any mixing spoon

PROCEDURE:
A. DECOCTION OF GUAVA LEAVES
1. Prepare a 100g of guava leaves.
2. Put the guava leaves in a basin and wash it to remove the dirt and some insect that can be
found in the leaves.
3. Prepare the aluminum container. Wash it first.
4. Pour 250mL of water in the container.
5. Boil the water in an aluminum container for 15 minutes to get more extract.
6. Gather 50g of guava leaves and put it in the boiling water. Boil for another 20 minutes.
7. After boiling, remove the guava leaves from the container.
8. Then, pour the guava extract (boiled guava leaves) in a container. You must have at least
400mL.

B. MIXING THE INGREDIENTS

Set aside first the guava extract. Boil 500mL water in a aluminum container.
Prepare the NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) and the vegetable oil.
Prepare the aluminum container and wash it before using.
Pour some water in the container then, boil it.
Then, mix the vegetable oil in the boiling water for 30 minutes and stir.
After 30 minutes, prepare the guava extract.
Mix the guava extract into the solution (water and oil) and stir for another 30 minutes.
Prepare the NaOH or caustic soda.
Add 3tbsp. of NaOH (Caustic soda or Lye) into the mixture.
Then stir for 30 minutes.
Lastly, after you stir the mixture, it will get thick and sticky. Then, put the mixture into a
molder.
12. After putting it in a molder, cover it with a cloth and place it in a safe area that cant be
exposed by the sun.

C. CUTTING THE SOAP

1. After it gets solid, cut the soap according to the size of the molder.
