Where Im From, Hun

I am from an acoustic guitar, from Sheplers and Miss Me.

I am from the red brick castle laced with enchanting green
ivy that left the neighbors with envy.
I am from the endless fields of blue bonnets, the
everlasting Ash trees ringing with songs of the Cicadas.
I am from 5 straight hours of just drifting down the
Guadalupe River in a single inner tube on a hot sunny day
and a forever-contagious smile, from Moe and Betty Lou and
my mama, too.
I am from the curious adventure-seekers and world travelers.
From Go Big or Go Home and Bless Your Heart.
I am from the folded prayer hands of our Lord and Savior,
and the ever-forgiving rays of sunlight that shine through
the stain-glass windows of His house, while His children
harmonize together in songs of praise.
Im from Golden Coast and the Lone Star State, a banana
shake in the middle of the night and Pops homemade caramel
corn every Thanksgiving.
From the sarcastic enthusiasm of my father calling out Hey,
look-cows! for every pasture that passed us, the constant
teasing of my mothers long bleach blonde hair, and the
thundering clap of my brothers cowboy boots on the wood
floors.
I am from The Stockyards, The State Fair, The Championship
Rodeo, home of the cutest cowboys thatll make any southern
belle go buck wild, and the land of the patriots that will
forever sing God Bless Texas.
