CEMENTING

Applications
CD-31L is a dark brown liquid, composed primarily of a highly-polymerized naphthalene sulfonate. In its liquid
form, it is added to the cement mixing water at wellsite to improve mixing visocity and rheological properties of
the slurries. CD-31L densifies slurries up to 17.5 ppg (21 kg/m3) in temperatures of 450F (232C) and above. A
CD-31L concentratin of 10 gal/100 sk is equivalent to 0.4% CD-31, by weight of cement. It also can be used as a
dispersant in some cement spacer systems.

Features
Superior Friction Reducer
Disperses cement particles and reduces slurry viscosity, resulting in low pipe friction pressures.
Enhancer
Enhances performance of other additives such as Fl-25, FL-52, FL-19 and R-6.
Economical
As an additive to the cement mixing water, CD-31L has an advantage over CD-31 in that excess "neat" cement is
not contaminated with a dry-blended additive and less cement is wasted.
Multi-Functional
Can be used as a dispersant, retarder, fluid loss reducer, friction reducer, densifier and viscosity reducer.
Compatibility
Compatible with all types of API cements and most cementing additives.

Benefits
Helps achieve turbulent flow at low pump rates.
Provides low viscosity and facilitates cement mixing, reducing air entrainment.
Eliminates the need for weighting agents to densify slurries.
Allows customization of the slurry on location because of mixability with mix water.
Reduces rig time and transportation costs, as slurry adjustments can be made on location, eliminating dryblended cement deliveries and expensive workboat time.
Less hydraulic horsepower required for the job because of lower surface-treating pressure.
Allows slurries to be pumped and displaced at a higher rate. Helps carry drill cuttings out of the hole and aids in
achieving a better cement bond.

Limitations
To protect product quality, do not store at temperatures below 40F (4.4C).

Competitive Products
CFR-2L, CFR-3L, D-80, D-604 and TF-4L.
