    Update: Officer Involved Shooting


    Springfield, Illinois The Springfield Police Department reports that Officer John Shea was released
    from HSHS St. Johns Hospital late this afternoon where he was being treated for injuries as a result of
    yesterdays incident in the 500 block of West Carpenter Street.
    Officer Shea, age 44, was treated for multiple facial fractures.
    He is a 15-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department who has served in multiple roles.
    This is an active and ongoing investigation by the Illinois State Police; no further information is available
    at this time.
