Internal Test III (29.10.2013)

Answer all the questions and dont mix-up Part-A with other answers.

Only non-programmable calculator is allowed

Part A (Marks: 10 x 1 = 10)
1.

When a line is parallel to HP and inclined to VP, the front view will be ____ to XY line.

2.

If the summation of the true inclination of a straight line is equal to 900, comment about its
projections.

3.

What is the condition for a line to have only Vertical Trace?

4.

Name the two methods to find the true length and true inclinations of a straight line.

5.

What is the condition for a straight line to show true length in the front view?

6.

A plane perpendicular to HP and inclined to VP is called _______.

7.

What is a profile name?

8.

Define trace of a plane.

9.

When the surface of a circle is perpendicular to VP and inclined to HP, comment about its
plan and elevation.

10. When a plane lamina has its surface perpendicular to both HP and VP _________ view will
show the truth shape.

Part B (Marks: 2 x 15 = 30)

11 (a)

The end P of a line PQ, 70mm long is 15mm above the HP and 20mm in front (15)
of the VP. End Q is 40mm above the HP. Its top view makes an angle of 450
with XY line. Draw the projections of the line and find its true inclinations
with the VP and HP.
(OR)

(b)

A line MN has its end M, 10mm in front of the VP and 15mm above the HP. (15)
The other end N is 50mm in front of the VP. The front view has a length of
70mm. The distance between the end projectors is 60mm. Draw the
projections of the line. Find its true length, true inclinations and traces.

12 (a)

A pentagonal plane of side 30mm rests on the ground on one of its corners (15)
with the side containing the corner equally inclined to the ground the side
opposed to the corner on which it rests is inclined at 300 to the VP and is

parallel to the HP. The surface of the pentagon makes 500 with the ground.
Draw its projections.
(OR)
(b)

A hexagonal plane of side 20mm rests on the HP on one of its sides which is (15)
inclined at 450 to the VP. The surface of the plate makes an angle of 300 with
the HP. Draw its projections.

Part C (Marks: 1 x 10 = 10)

13

A line PQ has one end on HP and the other end in VP. The front view of the (10)
line measures 80mm and makes an angle of 550 with XY line. The top view
measures 60mm. Draw the projections and find the true length.

3. Hypocycloid is the locus of the point lying on the periphery of a circle while the circle moves on
the inside perimeter of another circle without slipping.
4. The assumptions made in the orthographic projections are:
The observer is standing far away from the object so the projectors falling on the object are
all parallel to each other.

The projection screen in the vertical and horizontal planes are transparent so that any object
standing behind the screen too can be seen with its image equal to size of the real object.

5. A typical layout of the first angle projection is as follows:
