Noise Calculation Procedure

1- Calculate the Fan sound power (SWL) from this


correlation
SWL = 40+10 log10 Q+20 log10 P s
Q = air flow rate, m3/s & Ps is the static pressure, Pa

2- Make spectrum corrections according the following


table

3- Calculate the attenuation db caused by the straight


duct and the fittings from Tables 2 to 5

4- Calculate the attenuation db caused by Outlet


reflection from Table 6
5- Calculate attenuated SWL = SWL attenuation
caused by steps 3 and 4
6- Calculate the difference between the attenuated
SWL and room SPL through calculation of the room
factor and using the chart

9- Using the following table according the required NC

10 Calculated the required insertion loss by subtract


combined SPL from the required NC to select the
silencer if there is loss
