Enfield Middle Schools Core Values and/or Belief Statement:

1. We believe that it is important to foster supportive relationships with all
stakeholders; none of us can do this alone. We must support each other and
solicit support when needed.
2. We believe that we should assume responsibility for student learning. It is our
responsibility to ensure that students learn what WE want them to learn.
3. We believe that every child has the RIGHT to a quality education. Therefore, it is
our responsibility to expose them to rigorous curriculum and teach them to use
every resource at their disposal to enhance their learning.
4. We believe that we, as educators, must provide a positive and nurturing
environment that makes learning possible for ALL students. Therefore, we must
model the behavior that we expect of our students.
5. We believe that ALL children can and will learn, therefore it is our responsibility
to encourage the learning of our students.

6. We believe that all students have strengths and skills that are assets to their
education and must be allowed opportunities to use and develop these personal
strengths.
7. We believe that we, as educators, have the resources and skills necessary to help
each child, therefore we must continually reflect on our practices and commit to
improving.
8. We believe that the student is the most important stakeholder in his/her education
and must assume responsibility for this education. We must teach them to reflect
on their learning, and commit to improving.

Part Two
Referencing the resources monograph, Developing Your Schools Organizational
Identity: Foundation of Collaborative Learning Communities and the NCSSE
Standards 1.a, 1.b, and 1.c, provide a narrative justifying your assessment for each of
these three components of your schools identity.
After viewing Enfield Middle Schools mission and vision statements, as well as the
beliefs, I rated them proficient. My reason for this is that, the school has its mission and
vision statements posted throughout the building, but I have not seen evidence of the
mission and vision driving the school. In fact, the school motto is referred to more than
either of the mission, vision or beliefs. I did not observe the mission or the vision
statements shared with the new staff, nor could they tell me what it is. It is printed in the
student and staff handbooks, it is mentioned during some SIT meetings but, as far as
clear, consistent evidence to support that the mission, vision, and core beliefs drive what
takes place at Enfield Middle School on day to day basis is not evident.
Part Three
Using a bullet format, describe in sequential order from first to last, the 3-5 most
important next steps you as a school leader would take to improve or enhance your
schools current status of its identity.
1) Create a survey to get staff input about the effectiveness of our current mission,
vision, and core beliefs.
2) Data from the survey along with attendance, turnover, and discipline will be
discussed at SIT meeting
3) SIT will facilitate the collaboration of the staff in creating or revising the mission,
vision, and core beliefs at staff meeting
4) After we finalize the our new mission, vision, and core beliefs each SIT and staff
meeting determine actions or look fors so our actions match our words
5) Allow other stakeholders to provide input through PTA meetings, surveys, panel
discussions. Be ready for implementation the following school year.

1:3 Personal Reflection on Strategic Leadership

Submit a written personal reflection on why the NCPAPA High Performance Model
identifies Strategic Leadership as the driver of the seen NCSSE and what you as a
school leader will do to advance your current leadership knowledge, skills, or
dispositions in this standard to the Distinguished level of performance.
I agree with NCPAPAs High Performance Model that identifies Strategic Leadership as
the driver of the seen NCSSE because it is very important to be intentional about every
decision that is made.
As a school executive, it is important to collaborate with all stakeholders so that
everyones voices are heard and to guide buy-in decisions. But it is also my responsibility
to make sure the needs of the students are met. It is my responsibility to lead strategically
to make the greatest impact on student achievement. Culture and academics must be in
the forefront of everything I do. Some of the primary roles I will need to fulfill are as
follows:
Re-image the schools vision, mission, and goals
Build on core values and beliefs
Lead change
Properly distribute leadership opportunities
Continually refer to the SIP and do what it says we will do
In addition,
I will be observant, an active listener, reflective and always willing to network.
I will stay abreast of current research.
I will surround myself with people smarter than myself and/or surround myself
with people that have different strengths.
I will seek opportunities to build capacity in others on my team.
