    This document discusses evaluating the impact of connections on the seismic behavior of steel structures. It aims to analyze weaknesses arising from improper execution of corner bracket connections in traditional methods. Some existing defects are identified and analyzed using finite element software. The analyses are nonlinear and a proposed strengthening method is presented after reviewing some defects. It was observed that reinforcing the connections resulted in a more uniform stress distribution in the weld of the connection plate to the beam flange and lower stresses, improving the connection behavior given existing defects.
