The next pipe must placed in positioned so that pipe ends adjoining position. 6.3. Welding Production Welding production ctivty as follows 1) Two welders make root bead weld, with grindings of the root beat as required at least 50 percent of the root bead will be deposited before removal of the extemal pipe clamp. 2) Two welders make hot pass weld within 5 minutes after completion of the root bead. AMERADA HESS (INDONESIA - PANGKAH) LIMITED * -UJUNG PANGKAH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT WMG ‘SALES GAS PIPELINE EXECUTION PROCEDURE Page 13 of 27 FOR ONSHORE CONSTRUCTION ( FROM POINT 4 TOC ) 3) Fill and cap welds are made by different welders as a separate activity a) Hot pass weld is power more buffed clean b) Two welders make fill and cap weld are made. ° ished weld is buffed clean in preparation for NDT d) Visual inspection of completed weld and where cap height is in excess of 3 mm, then the cap shall be ground to a uniform profile before NDT. 4) When required, suitable rain protective cover will be used during welding operation and night caps will be fitted to the end of each string of pipe of the end of each day work. 6.4. Tie-in Welds Tie-in weld accur between long lengths of welded pipe strings which may be already in the trench, tie-in accur at road river, rail crossing, or wherever a break in the pipe line must be left The alignment and gap set-up of the end is considerable more difficult to achieve than for production weld because the overaped pipes require accurate cutting to from a one weld tie-in or an additional pipe length has to be cut where is a gap between string is to form a two weld tie-in Localized enlargement of the trench (bell hole) will be provided to allow adequate welders access. Shoring will be installed where necessary to ensure safe working ‘condition in the bell hole. ‘An extemally applied line up clamp is used to hold the ends for welding after cutting to size. Actual welding procedure is essentially the same as for production weld except that the external clamp is released when 50 percent or more of the root bead has been deposited and there is on pipe movement until the weld is complete. -AMERADA HESS (INDONESIA - PANGKAH) LIMITED | ar UJUNG PANGKAH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT WMG SALES GAS PIPELINE EXECUTION PROCEDURE Page 14 of 27 FOR ONSHORE CONSTRUCTION ( FROM POINT A TOC) I 65. Fitting Welds ‘Welding to fitting such as flanges, tees, pups ete, will be done in accordance with the same weld procedures as the pipeline except that tack welding may be used instead of line-up clamps. 6.6. QC &NOT The main weld inspection process consist of weld radiography, processing, assessment of radiography weld quality and recording of result. An ND.T. company will carry out radiography inspection of all welds, plus any ultrasonic thickness checks and dye-penetrate inspection as required. Result and radiography are to be processed for S-year archival life, 6.7. Defective Weld Non destructive testing N.D.T. of visual examination of weld may find defects which are not acceptable to the construction standard required. Same types of defect may be required, other may not and on the whole weld must be cut out and the line rejoined by moving the end together or by inserting a short “pup” piece and making new welds 6.8. Repair Procedure A procedure for repair weld also the welder will by qualiied prior to welding on the pipetine. Repair weld will be done accordance with the approved repair WPS and by qualified welder. Weld repair are made by identifying and marking the location on the defect using a tracing made from the radiograph Weld repair welder the manually grinds into the weld metal until the defect becomes visible, cottaning grinding until the defect is ground out to sound metal AMERADA HESS (INDONESIA - PANGKAH) LIMITED = UJUNG PANGKAH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT WMG SALES GAS PIPELINE EXECUTION PROCEDURE Page 15 of 27 FOR ONSHORE CONSTRUCTION ( FROM POINT A TOC) The weld is than repaired in accordance with repair weld procedure and the repaired section is then re-radiograph and assessed for compliance. 6.9. Communication and records Weld information is transmitted between the various personnel as follow. Each welder marks the pipe next to the weld using a standard number system, with the follow information: © weld number + welder identification number + daily production number © date the N.D.T. operation transfers the weld number: (2) onto the radiograph (as an image on the film) the welding foremen record both the pipe numbers and weld number in their correct running sequence for the purpose of weld and the pipe treacebility and transfer this information to the surveyor and construction superintendent N.D.T. operation completes and submit radiography report on a daily basis to the construction superintendent, the report will clasify each weld and the N.D.T. operation immediately advises the welding foremen whether the weld is accepted or rejected 6.10. A paddle roller is used in conjunction with the propane torch working from the center out to remove any air bubbles or voids. Care is taken not to aver heat the sleeve or squeeze out excessive mastic. 82.2. Coating Repair Coating is trimmed by cutting knife to a chamfered edige around the repair area ‘Any contaminated mastic is removed. Areas where the sleeve is to be placed is wiped clean with an appropriate solvent. Full or part sleeves are used to repair affected area working sure the required overlap is given. Sleeve is applied in the same manner as for joint coating. 8.2.3.
