Intra-European Fellowships (IEF)

Individual Action:

includes all employers costs such as social security and pension contributions
takes into account the cost of living in the country of recruitment
takes into account the family situation of the researcher ( 700/1000 per month)
2. Contribution to the cost of the project
Flat rate of 800 per month to contribute to expenses related to training
activities, research costs etc.
- Overheads - maximum of 700 per month corrected for the cost of living in the
country of recruitment

10

Intra-European Fellowships (IEF)

CAREER RESTART PANEL (only IEF)
Aims to ensure equal opportunities by encouraging researchers to return to
research after a career break.

Not have been active on a fellowship, or employed under contract in

research for at least 12 months immediately prior to the call deadline
Multidisciplinary panel (CHE, SOC, ECO, ENG, ENV, LIF, MAT, PHY)
Modified mobility requirement: Maximum 3 years in the host country during
the past 5 years (prior to submission deadline)

4 - Career Integration Grants (CIG)

19

Career Integration Grants (CIG)

1- Encourage and help researchers to establish a research career in

Europe
2- To increase the prospects of integration of the researcher in Europe
3- To improve transfer of knowledge and lasting cooperation with
previous host(s) of researcher
4- A measure to counter European brain drain.

20

Career Integration Grants (CIG)

For Experienced Researcher
Must have a PhD or at least 4 years of research experience
Researcher can be of any nationality
Researcher must move country to take up research job.
Mobility Rule: The Researcher must not have spent more than 1 year in the
host country during the past 3 years prior to the submission deadline.
Duration of CIG grant: up to 48 months (longer is better)
Host must offer full time research post for at least the duration of the CIG grant

EU contribution: 25 000 /year paid as flat rate

21

Career Integration Grants (CIG) - the Host perspective

1. A CIG can be combined with (almost) any other funding

Not possible to combine with other Marie Curie grants

Not possible to combine with other personal grants that pay everything (e.g. ERC
grants)

2. CIG paid as a flat rate => no restrictions on what type of project costs can
be covered

Part of salary of Researcher (or other people working on project)

Equipment, Consumables, travels
Overhead, management costs
Etc

3. Simplified reporting. (No financial reporting)

22

Career Integration Grants (CIG) - the Host perspective

4. A CIG is an option for any recruitment of a researcher from abroad.

23

Could me made part of the recruitment procedure, e.g: A successful candidate

recruited from outside Romaina is expected to apply for a Marie Curie Career
Integration Grant.

EVALUATORS

REA

Feedback to Applicants
The REA sends electronically a letter initial information letter together with the
Evaluation Summary Report (ESR)

The ESR aims to give the applicants a prompt indication of how their proposals fared in the
evaluation by the experts

The ESR reflects the consensus reached by the experts and the final review by the panel

It contains comments and scores on each criterion and an overall score as well as providing
overall comments when appropriate

Timing :
Evaluation results usually available within 3-4 months after the deadline
Start of negotiations for successful proposals about 3-5 months after the deadline
