Religion: We read stories about the start of the

church. We talked about treating others the way
we want to be treated. We wrote about our dreams
for peace in our world.

Reminders

Reading: We are working with writing contractions

and compound words. We read 2 stories in our
reading text. We reviewed the spelling rules for
endings to long and short vowel words and words
that end with silent e. We completed the first
hardcover textbook.
Math: We are working with related facts for
addition and subtraction problems. We used
connecting cubes and counters to model this
concept. We solved problems about groups of ten
for the 100th day math activity paper.
Science: We labeled our solar system models. We
wrote information pages about each of the planets,
the sun, and the asteroid belt.
Social Studies: We started the next unit in our
textbook. We are reading about different types of
jobs we do at school and at home. We are using
the words first, next and last to put events in
order that they happened.

100th Day of School

We had lots of fun. We have been
counting the days of school since
the very first day in August. We
shared our posters, 100 wants
papers and favorite things we
have done since the start of
school. We read stories and
counted items up to 100.
Using 100 plastics cups,
groups of students
created tall towers.
Everyone got a bookmark and a pencil.
