5 PROBLEMS AND LIMITATIONS CORRECTED

Java code certificate expiry
Earlier releases, up to and including 250-02-13, are signed using a certificate with an
expiry date of 15 January 2014. Web browsers typically report an error when the code is
used after this expiry date. Release 250-02-14 has been signed using a certificate that
expires on 17 February 2017.

Java missing permissions attribute

Recent changes in Java 7 Update 51 have enhanced the security model resulting in a
problem executing Java code from 250-02-13 and earlier releases. In this case, the Java
application blocks execution of the Java Archive (JAR) with the following message
"missing required permissions manifest attribute in main jar". The problem has been
corrected in 250-02-14.

Java application name

In earlier releases, the Java prompt for the PTP 250 webpage management GUI displays
the default applet.ControlAppletWrapper as an application name. In 250-02-14 this has
been updated to PTP 250 Management Agent.

6 KNOWN PROBLEMS OR LIMITATIONS

Upgrade to System Release 250-02-14
The Java missing permissions problem described above is corrected in 250-02-14, but it
prevents access to the web interface of the ODU using 250-02-13 and can consequently
prevent firmware upgrade to 250-02-14. A work around procedure to add the IP address of
the ODU as a specific exception is provided in the following article:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/java_blocked.xml

Maximum range
Maximum range is limited to 27 km for 40 MHz channel bandwidth, and limited to 54 km
for 20MHz channel bandwidth.

Coexistence with other PTP products

PTP 250 may not always detect other PTP products (PTP 250/300/400/500/600) operating
on the same channel. Therefore it is recommended that customers use frequency
planning when collocating PTP 250 radios with other PTP radios on the same mast. In the
case where a PTP 250 radio is operating on the same channel as another PTP radio in
close proximity, the PTP 250 radio may operate with reduced throughput.

Latency of an unloaded 40 MHz link

When operating in ETSI 5.8 GHz radar channels at 40 MHz, the link will show an increased
latency (approximately 8 ms) for an unloaded link. This is most likely to be noticed by a

ping latency test if there is no background traffic over the link. The throughput and latency
are not degraded during radio operation with appreciable data traffic.
