Teachers Set to Target Senior Elementary Schools

OECTA Advises Board They Will Start Strike on Tuesday, Feb. 7

The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board has just received notice from our teaching
union (OECTA - Elementary) that it will commence their rotating strike on Tuesday,
February 7.

Bishop Gallagher, Bishop E. Q. Jennings and Pope John Paul II will be the first sites of the
strike. The union also expressed that their teachers would be returning to work the following
day, Wednesday, February 8.

A picket line is expected and delays throughout the day are likely. Where parents/guardians
are unable to make arrangements for their children, the school will remain open and bussing
for students will continue as usual.

Every effort will be made to ensure your child is in a safe environment, but programming
will be greatly affected by this strike. Children may be placed in classrooms or congregate in
the larger spaces such as the gymnasium and will be supervised by the school administrators.

Children should not expect daily routines to be followed as this cannot be considered a
typical school day.
