Camphora is a single substance: D(+) -carmphor ((1R4R)-
1,7,T-simethyl-bieyelo|2.2.1]heptan-2-on), extracted from
the volatile oil of the trunk of the camphor tree, Cinnamo-
‘mum camphora. L(-caraphor also occurs in nature, Synthet-
ic camphor is DL-carphor.
EFFECTS.
Used externally, camphor acts as a bronchial seoretolytic and
hyperemia Internally, the effect is that of a respiratory
