Shahid Kadri is an eminent poet and writer of Bangadesh.

He is one of the well-known writers from the


period of post 1947. His works mainly based on urban life and modernism. In his poetry, he molded day-
to-day activities of urban life into poem. Patriotism, cosmopolitanism, and universalism these are the
key characteristics of his writing.

He was born in 14th August, 1942, in Calcultta, the then British India (present India). His childhood
proliferates in there too. In 1952 he moved towards Dhaka; then, spends three decades here. In 1978,
he went abroad. He stayed in Barlin, Boston, London, and at the last few days of his life, he was in New
York.

His eminent writings are: Uttoradhikar, Tomake Ovibadhon, Priyotoma, Kohato kono krondon nei etc.

He receives Bangla Academy Award and Ekushe Podok for his contribution in bangla literature.

Shahid Kadri breathed his last in 28 August, 2016, in New York.
