Welcome Back!
What a great way to ring in the
New Year, rainy days at last! I
hope you all had a wonderful
time with your families over
winter break.

Peach Blossom
Peach Blossom tryouts are just
around the corner (Jan. 26)!
Mrs. Mireles and I will be
taking 10 groups/individuals to
participate in Fresno States
Peach Blossom Festival in
March. Students may present
any poem out loud with
gestures/movements and
enthusiasm (some
memorization recommended
for tryouts). Mrs. Mireles and I
will then select the top ten
performances that will then
practice twice before school
weekly until the Festival (March
9th or 10th).
Mini-Field Trip
We will be taking all students
to the Sanger Museum on
January 24th as part of our
California Native American
unit. Look for permission slips
next week. ;)
Young Authors Fair
We have begun working on our Young Authors Fair books this
week. All students will create their own Fractured Fairy Tale. I
will select the top two entries to be showcased in the library
during Open House. One third grade students story will be
selected to attend the Young Authors Fair in Fresno. If you or
your child are interested in creating a separate, original work at
home, please let me know so I can give you the ocial entry form
rules. All entries will be due on February 24th.
AR
Students will now be responsible for passing three AR quizzes
each week. Students who are able to meet this goal will have
Lunch with the Teacher at the end of the month and earn extra
recess. Students who go beyond this goal will earn extra Dojo
points and be entered into weekly drawings to select prizes from
our classroom treasure box. In an eort to motivate all students
to read AR books nightly and pass quizzes, students who do not
meet their weekly AR goal will owe one lunch recess the
following week.
