World Thinking Day

Girl Scouts and Girl Guides exist in 146 countries all over the world with a combined
membership of over 10 million girls. To celebrate our world-wide kinship and sisterhood,
troops around the globe participate in World Thinking Day. This years theme is GROW, a
movement to introduce more girls to the world of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

AGENDA
12:00-12:45pm Set up troop tables
1:00pm Opening Ceremony/Flag parade
1:30-3:45pm Rotations
3:45 Closing Ceremony

To select your country, please email selections (1 st, 2nd, and 3rd choices) to
Heather Kapp at kappatots@yahoo.com. Please include Troop #, Leader
name, girl level, number of tables you will set-up, and projected number of
girls attending. Troops will need to provide their tables. Country selections
will be confirmed via email and will be posted on the SU 630 Facebook page.
Country selection is first come/first served with no duplications. Country
selected must be a member of WAGGGS.
*Troops may opt to travel only. Please indicate whether you will set-up a
table or travel on the registration form.
DEADLINE to register and pay for this event is 3/3/17. Registration
and payment should be turned in to Kitty Poulsen. Please make checks
payable to SU 630. No tagalongs or unregistered adults please.

OPTIONAL FOR TROOPS


The Service Unit has reserved Woodland Trails for camping Friday, March
24th-Sunday, March 26th. Troops are welcome to camp for 1-2 nights. All
Safety Guidelines/Activity Checkpoints must be met. There is no charge to
camp! Troops are responsible for providing their own gear, food, firewood,
toilet paper, etc . Brenda Oman has arranged for port-a-potties.
Please indicate on your registration form if your troop will be camping and for
how many nights. An additional custom camping fun patch will be available
for purchase through the Service Unit for $3 each.

World Thinking Day 2017

Each participating troop should:

Provide a table(s) for your troops display.

Set up an exhibit displaying information about their chosen


country. The display can also include souvenir items,
pictures, and/or crafts made by the girls.

Engage girls visiting their country by teaching a song,


teaching a greeting or phrase in the language of the country,
playing a game, or making a small craft. Activity should not
take longer than 5 minutes to complete.

Have enough SWAPS (themed to the chosen country) to give


each participant. Total number of registrants will be posted
on the SU Facebook page after registration closes.

Provide a stamp or sticker for the visiting girls to place in


their passports.

Dress in a color or costume representing their country.

Have/make a flag for the opening ceremony and flag parade.

Provide a small snack/drink from their country. Please be


cautious of allergies. Please post on your table any
ingredients that may trigger allergies.
