Thepointisthatmindfulnessandtherapyareoftenmisapplied,andassuchcanmakethings
worsebecausemindfulnessisaboutbeingwith'whatis',notaboutdiscernmentaboutharmful
causations,oftenhiddencausations,oftenstateapprovedpracticesnotseenasharmfulby
societyatlargecausationswhichshouldberemovedinsteadofendured.Ifwedon'thave

cranks,extremistsormembersofaradicalleft.Prescientsocialcritics,fromRalphNaderto
NoamChomsky,arebanished.AcceptableopinionshavearangeofAtoB.Theculture,
underthetutelageofthesecorporatecourtiers,becomes,asHuxleynoted,aworldof
cheerfulconformity,aswellasanendlessandfinallyfataloptimism.Webusyourselves
