CH. 1 LIVING ENERGY

I sat on a tree branch, the glisten of the moon upon my eye, I stare into the distance past lake
sinead, but that's not what I was looking at.
my name is saru... I'm a tree spirit, at least thats what im told, but I believe otherwise, as far as
in concerned i'm, not like any other tree spirit or out there.
for i see things they don't, the others, not even my friends, i hear things
they don't, I understand things they don't, and it pushes me away from them, and teaches me
things i watch them learn later.
To me......its a gift...
i stare watching the dancing energy, A beautiful array of vivid colors, fluctuating.....
twisting ...........
and warping within itself like a kaleidoscope......
Something i only see..... Living energy.
.
I spend my days like this.moping thinking and playing with the energy, to me it's alive...
sometimes it talks
sometimes it laughs, sometimes it cries..it's my way of seeing the world. and my way of learning
about the it .i like to control it, its
something i can do, and use it to mess with my friends as i laugh from a distance.
But it's not like they would know.
They can't see it..
my thoughts were cut short by a tap on the shoulder, i looked up, it was my sister alydis. she
was wearing a
gown the on she always whore to bed. it glowed rather brightly in the full moon ahead i was
surprised that
she was still up, normally she'd be asleep at this time.
"I brought you supper she said, sitting down next to me, setting a plate between us, her tone
soft and timid
"Kara" fruit she said "I know it's not your favorite but it's the best i could find".. there was a
pause....
"i was about to go to bed" her eyes drifted downward a strand of her long black hair hung down
covering part of her eye.
she fiddled with a leaf her fingers gliding upon its surface.
"but then i remembered you were still out here she said raising her head to Look at the moon.
there was a slight breeze, it whistled eerily through the trees, she opened her hand the leaf
resting
her palm, the wind picked up, blowing the leaf away, it fluttered.. landing soundlessly in the lake
ahead causing
ripples that glistened in the moonlight....
upon the surface of the calm lake..........

ch. 2 SOMEONE CLOSE,

It was morning the sun rising in the east. the sound of the early birds trail throughout the forest
and the smell of
the morning due.
alydis lay next to me, her head resting on my lap, i was thinking about nature and the patterns i
saw within it, i had
never considered how alive it was itself, like all things within it, nature itself if living, it always
has. the energy
showed me...
i heard the sound of the wind i saw the ripples on the lake glittering upon the lake like midnight
stars.
"they all fit together i thought "every time the wind blows the dynamic sound of the birds chirping
slows,and the
ripples on the lake fluctuate.
alydis's silver eyes opened, she smiled, i watched her sit up and let out a yawn, this brought a
smile to my face i was perched on
a tree branch about 30 feet above her.. i watched as she looked about trying to find me, this
brought a smile to my face
i envy my sister more than anything, ever since mom and dad disappeared 50 years ago.
she was only 15 then... i was only 5 she's taken care of me since then.
"protect saru with your life"! a woman yells tear, streaks shimmering upon her cheeks... don't let
anything happen to him,
he's your hope... this world's future...promise me... promise me please"!
the distant memory fading into the light of my minds eye.
that was the last thing mom seid before she ran into the flames.
i know it's not easy, it's never easy especially at the age of 15... i saw her bleed, i saw her
sweat, i saw her cry... but, where
just one of many.
i don't know what it was, or where it began, for the memories are to faint.
"saru?" i heard alydis ask, i looked down, she was looking or me, worry in her voice, i jumped
from my position in the tree
and with a flicker of blue light, and a flash of energy, i turn into a herren, i glide down to her,
landing gently on her head.
she looks up at me, an exuberant smile on her face, her eyes lit with a vivid happiness like a
childs in a butterfly field,
"there you are!" she says with a laugh, relieved as she gently takes me off her head, holding me
in cupped hands out in
front of her
"where were you?" she asked, looking down at me? her long black hair -gently flowing in the
wind
she laughs under her breath, then kissed my little bird head and set me down.
my body started to glow then i slowly turned back, i now sat on the tree brach, my legs crossed
"how'd you sleep?" i ask, stretching my back.
"good" she said.
"awesome" i replied.
i was glad, she did have a bit of a night, she cooked me dinner at the height of the moon then
slept outside.
"i got us breakfast" i said holding up a watermelon size fruit "how about teka?"
"oh my gosh, where'd you find this!" alysise said.
i had a grin on my face "theres a huge tree filled with them about 4 miles west" i said making a
big gesture with both arms
"i talked to the tree, she said it was fine only if i promise to plant one of the seeds from it, but..
i'm gonna be kind and plant
all of them"
"awwww how nice of you" alydis said,
"yeah" i said, scratching the back of my head "i felt bad for her so i followed through with the
deal."
"what was her name?" she asked
"she didn't have one" i replied.
alydis smiled as she cut into the fruit with a knife "if you could give her a name what would it
be?"
"i dunno" i said staring deep into the distance "probably nieka, azaray, or leafa you know,
because she has so many leaves"
"oooo leafa" alydis commented "i like that one"
i laughed gently, it was just off the top of my head... i didn't put much thought into it.
"wow" alydis said having read my mind "that's even better"
"kind-of" i said.
there was a short pause...
"what about the others?" she asked "Ilis, Kaddis, Ariah, and Kayda?" have you talked to them
lately?"
"yeah" i replied, "i passed by ariah on the way back, she said her and the others were gonna
play hiden-seek with the
energy sperita!"
"that sounds fun" she said "i hear they're very good at that game"
"Exactly" i say excitedly "that's why we want to play them!"
"well...aldis said, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GO GET!!
"really i asked!"
"Really!" she said with a smile"
"oh thankyou" i said I jumped backwards, turning back into a bird, and stored away......
ch.3 RISING THROUGH WATER
that night i sore back to the tree, the tickle of the wind beneath my wings. i felt like i could do
anything, after all we did totally
beat the energy spirits, mostly because we hid in the trees.
i landed upon some rocks on the river's shore hoping to find some fish for me and alydis, but to
my surprise nothing had washed
up but... something behind me caught the corner of my eye,
blood trickled down the darkened tree trunks against the light of the full moon ahead, appearing
darker in the shadows as a black
mist like energy manifested from the trees like shadows.
dead bodys faze through the lake floor without disrupting the sand, there eyes open as they
ascend towards the surface, men and
women dressed in white robes and gowns no different from the ones me and alydis where,
hundreds of them, thousands of them
barely shadows against the moonlight streaming through the deep water, glistening upon the
lake as they surface at random like
dead fish.
there was a sudden change in black energy and a pulse of emotion pierced through me, it was
alydis... but something was wrong
"the stream" i thought i jumped to the nearest tree branch artfully changing directions as i began
to weave through the trees there
was another fluctuation in the energy and blue energy started to resonate
"oh my god" i picked up my pace.....
"please don't be hurt", "please don't be hurt" i pleaded my heart heavy, soaked with emotion that
just had to be ringed out
alydis sat on her knees looking up, her tears shimmering in the faint moonlight, streaking
through the trees above.
her left arm shot with blood that ran down her palm puddling in the curvature of her fingers and
staining her white gown. a
sharp stick in her right hand dark with blood.
she cringed biting her lip and a shaking her head as a tear slid down her cheek,
"I won't let you!"she says "No i won't let you!" the wind gusts, rippling through the grass around
her, and cresting her black hair
like leaves swaying in the wind,
"Get away from me!" she sobbed jabbing the sharpened stick into her arm,
"You can't have saru, "Not for your life's worth she yells" "You can't!!", "You Cant!" "You CANT!!!"
"Give him to me" a deep growly voice echoes through-out the shadows
"No!!" she yells again violently stabbing her arm, "No!!", "No!!" "Never!!"
the black energy sissies, "You foolish little girl" it snarls,
"Your worthless- "GET AWAY FROM ME!!" alydis screams thrusting the stick into her stomach,
i feel a sudden explosion of pain throughout my body just before i see alysis crumple up and roll
onto her side upon the
forest floor,
"Alydis!! " i yell
Alydis lay motionless amidst the moonlit grass, staring deep past the trees, the sound of my
voice barely an echo into fading
distance in the white light of her mind as the color of her silver eyes fade into a shallow grey
"Alydis" i say weekly as the energy leave my body, my eyes filling with tears that blurred my
vision,
"I won't let you" i sob, "You're not done until i've given up" "You're not done until i've let go!!" the
grass around me starts to glow,
"You're not week... unless i'm weak" "your pain is my burden" "my breath is your life"
"My heart, is your blood!!" i yell prassing my fingers into her chest, there was a sudden burst of
white light, projecting long
shadows across the forest floor, the light brightened, then disappeared.
i was exhausted,i felt the energy completely leave my body, my eyes rolled to the back of my
head as i collapsed aside alydis
the moonlight brightened, fading into nothing..... but white light.
ch. 4 MEMORIES AND NIGHTMARES...
I open my eyes, light-headed a ring in my ears, i try to sit up, but my action was met with a
throbbing pain, blurring the light
into a white haze. making the ring louder and burning my forehead.
"good morning sleepy head" a girl's voice echoes
a girl was perched on a small branch, just a few inches above my head, she had long wavy,
beautiful golden blond hair that
seemed to hang about like silk in the sunrise, and shallow blue eyes that glittered like ripples on
a lake
i recognized her voice,
"Ariah?" i ask, squinting
"yep" she laughs strands of hair dancing across her face as she looks down "to be honest.....
"when i saw you two on the"
forest floor, "I-I thought i had lost a friend"...
"I saw your memory-
"What!" i interrupted, sitting up and startling her "Ariah you know how i feel about th-
"I'm sorry!" ariah pleads "you looked dead, I was so scared"
my heart skips a beat, The-thud! images flashed before my mind The-thud my pupils dilate
The-thud!
"I won't let you!" alydis's voice, echoes throughout the vivid memory....
Th-thud! Th-thud! dark blood stains on her gown, The-thud! Th-thud! she stabs her arm The-
thud! Th-thud! my heart beat
speeds up thundering all around me
Th-thud! Th-thud! Th-thud!
"You can't"! No! ,No "Never" blood stains the grass, "Not for your life's Worth!! "
Th-thud! Th-thud! Th-thud!! Th-thud!
moon-lite trees above
Th-thud! Th-thud! Th-thud! Th-thud!
"GET AWAY FROM ME" lydia's voice echoes
Th-thud! Th-thud! Th-thud!! Th-thud! Th-thud
a flash of pain Alydis lays motionless in the dark blood stained grass, her white gown brightly lit
by the moonlight casting
long shadows upon a yellow flower that rested amids her curved fingers.
Darkness..........
the smell of burning wood.
Darkness..........
a crack of thunder
Darkness.......
people jumping through-out the trees
Darkness...........
pouring rain... echoing screams.....
I sit up, my breathing fast and heavy "Where is she?" i yell turning to face ariah
"who?" she asks
"Alydis!" i practically scream
"oh. ummm... she said she was gonna go and find breakfast?"
"what?" i think my eyes widen "I have to go" i say jumping up
"Wait" "wait-
her voice trails off as i disappear into the distance.
Alydis sits on a dry rock in the middle of lake sinead, staring at her feet, blurry under the running
water
"I was there"...
A silver streak of lightning flashes unnaturally across the starlit sky, the crunch of dry leaves as
women runs through the forest,
dressed in a white hooded gown that flowed behind her like silk... a baby's scream
"Was it me?..... d-did... i fight?"........ or die?

a water droplet hanging from the petals of a yellow flower, glittering in the sun.
A girls cry fades into darkness..................
Sudden screams... dead bodys... blood drips from the foot of a hanging person
the click of a clock as time speeds up... racing heartbeat... a women sits on her knees..crying as
she looks up,blood running down
her arm... a beam of light shooting to the sky.
the memories glow vividly in the white shimmer of her silver her eyes, as she stares at the
fading white scars running down her
fore-arm "I promised mom and dad that i would protect him, she thought "But...... he needs to be
told, But....i don't think he's ready
But..... is he?"
She cringed squeezing her eyes shut as she leaned forward, pulling her hair as the let out a
scream that echoed throughout the
the forest.... birds flew from out of the green tops of the forest trees.
ch. 5 A FLOWERS HEART-BEAT
It was night. Alydis sits on the tree-branch, her legs hung down, the full moon, bright and round
glowed sharply ahead, glimmering
upon the water dancing in it light.
it was a peaceful night. the still humid air, a slight breeze now and then, the sleep inducing
sound of crickets resonating dynamically
like an orchestra.
I appear behind her, holding a white blanket. "listen." i say raping it around her shoulders as i sit
down next to her,
"I've been worried about you. ever since what happened in the forest" my honesty just seemed
to deflect off her, like the light upon
the water in front of me. it sounded vague.
alydis just stared into the distance. with no response.
I looked down, i felt bad for her... but i didn't know why. something had to be missing. i knew that
it was something she didn't want
to tell me, something that's gone unexpressed.
I don't tell her this, I don't know why.
So, i can only relate.
"I know how you feel" i say staring into the distance, kicking my feet as they dangle below me,
just aside hers.
''Put in a position, where you feel like nothing is worth it." i look dawn at the water. it lapped
against the rocks soundly.
"A deep deep heavy feeling, that weighs you down infinitely. a feeling of: "i don't want to do it."
"Its not worth it." "I just wanna die."
"Go to sleep. and never wake up again" pink energy danced around us. it was a color i had
never seen. it was powerful
"Love" it whispered echoing throughout its self. "Family"....... family.....family" it faded into the
wind.
a smile creped to lydia's lips, and the tension left her body as she let out a small laugh under
her breath. this made me smile.
there was a pause. the wind died down, it's eerie whistle fading with the sound of the crickets
chirping, and leaves swaying in
the moon-light.
this caught my attention.
alydis dug her nails into the white blanket I wrapped around her shoulders.
"I'm sorry saru." she whimpered tensely.
There was a sudden burst of white energy. shaking the entire forest, knocking alydis and I from
our position in the tree. i fell down
striking the forest floor with the sound of sticks cracking beneath me like bones on a hollow rock
echoing as I go un-continuous with
a ring in my ears..............
i hear muffled screams. echoing through-out the dark of my lucid continuous like distant torture
in a cave. i hear another burst
of energy and then another.
"Saru"..... a wise voice says, it was a voice i had never heard.
"You are, too g-" My eyes shoot open with a startling sense of fear. the light around me is
bright. moving in blurred, stretched frames like the
moonlight's reflection on the lake. a man is running past. the fearful, horrors expression on his
face is more defined than the long
blurr of his white clothing as he looks back. his scream just another of many, drowned out by the
ring in my ears.
my heart loud as it thunders in my chest, loud in my ears.
"Goooo.... save her ...Ariah"... the wise whispery voice fading into my rapid heart-beat like wind
through the trees.
I slowly stood up. looking at the flames that covered all around me.
"The energy will guide you"
green energy lit up a small indentation of trees just wide enough to fit through.
I take off as fast as i can. my bare feet a blur of color. i don't hear the sound of the horror that
surround me. nothing but the pound
of my thundering heart, my heavy breath and the desperate crunch of the leaves below my feet
as i run. trees whipping past in an array
of golden yellow and red as they burn all around me.
I look to the left a woman lies dead in the flames. held fast by a tree branch that covers her legs,
as a baby kicks and screams, flailing
and crying in the grip of her blackened hand. a man carries his wife in his arms. a tree
collapses, smashing the two in a display of sparks and
heat. a dead child... his sister younger refusing to leave him, digging her fingernails into the
ground, then reaching out as an older sibling
pulls her away.
red and blue energy blind me. i could hardly see the green energy.
"shes alive, "she's alive" "she's alive" "she's alive" i plead in my head, i squeezed my eyes shut
as a tree-branch ahead of me breaks "Shes
alive" "She's alive" "She's alive" "She's alive" "She's ali-"
"SARU!!" alydis's voice screams. my eyes burst open and i jump to the right just as a burning
tree-branch crashes where i was
"saru." the wise voice says. "trust the energy"... a green flash light up through the blue and red
energy, it blinks with the sound of my
rapid heart beat Th-thud!!
"Follow...us" it echoes with a whisper. fluctuating with a TH-thud!!!
"What are you waiting for" lydia's voice comes again, echoing in and out of the distance.
"NOTHING" i scream. dashing faster then i have ever towards the green energy
"NOTHING!!!"..........
the green energy fluctuates with a TH-THUD! brightening into a green haze.........
"trust us"..."trust me"..."trust all of us" the three whispers echo. "Shes here".....
"Ariah!!" i yell running towards her.
Ariah sits on her knees, pushing on a girls chest. the tears streaming down her cheeks
shimmering like ice in the golden yellow and
red flames that surround us. "comeback... please,"she sobbed stopping me dead in my tracks.
she didn't respond
"She can't hear you." the wise voice says.
Ariah cringes then blows into the girl's mouth. "I won't leave you" she says her voice no more
than a distant echo as she begins to push
on the girl's chest again. but her words still remain." I wont leave you" "I" "I" won't leave you"
"won't leave you" "leave you" you you..
a tear splats upon the back of her hand as she pushes vigorously.
"I can't leave you" she says reaching her hand to her mouth, biting the inside of her palm."
you're worth more than death" she squeezes
her eyes shut, and rips her hand away. blood begins to run down her arm.
"Tap her shoulder"... the wise voice whispers.
i hesitate. i didn't know what will happen.
"Don't worry. Trust me"the wise voice fading into the wind that gusted. blowing dark leaves that
crinkle as they blow about my feet.
in in a hasteful motion i reach out tapping her shoulder. and the world seems to brighten.
i stood. a shadow among the flicker of the flames. behind ariah, the sound of her cry no longer
distant echo.
"Ariah?" i ask.
ariah startled by my voice, turned to face me the tears streaming down her cheeks stir
something within me. i knew something horrible
had happened. my heart dissolved in my stomach.
"Aris isn't breathing" she whimpers
i look down at the girl. grey energy resonated from her lifeless body. fading about the fires.
"Death." it whispers. the word crushed me weighing me down infinitely.
ariah reaches her arm out holding her hand above the girl's face blood ran down her palm,
collecting at the tip of her thumb. a drop
of blood splatters upon the girl's forehead. it started to glow brightening into a white light.
It exploded.
Ariah flew back, violently striking a tree, falling to the ground with a solid Thump!
"I won't stop" she sobbed, scrambling back up trudging back over to the girl with a weak crawl.
she held her trembling hand over the girl. another blood drop splatter upon the girl's forehead. it
started to glow. then erupted
Ariah flew back once more violently striking against a tree, falling to her knees. the arch of her
back, rising and falling with the breath
of her tears
i stood. horrified at the display. the image crushed my heart...
Aris was dead....
" NO She's not!" aris yells angrily looking up at me, having seen my thought. her expression
startles me, the tear stains running down
cheeks appear a pinkish yellow in the heat of the flames. i've never seen her like this. the anger
in her eyes, blurred by the fear of a sliver of
hope.
silence falls between the two of us...
"Don't Ever say that!" she says. a bold scene in her wavery voice.
Something tenses within me.
"Listen To Me!" i say "If We Don't Get Out Of Here Where Both Wanna Die!"
"I DON'T CARE!" She screams "Aris is still alive!"... "I Can Still Feel Her Energy!"
"You don't understand." I say grabbing her arm "We need to g-
"NO! NO! NO!" she cries shaking her head. As she zaps me with white energy from her hand.
I fly back, sliding across the flickering shadows of the forest floor, amids dry dirt and dead
leaves, my body goes numb as I realize the the
branches are starting to collapse inn.
"ARIAH!" I yell scrambling back to my feet, just as a tree trunk snaps next to me. a tree-branch
falls to my left, and i watch as another falls
landing aside ariah "The trees are starting to fall apart! ... if one falls on either one of us Were
both dead!"
A tree branch snaps above Ariah falling within a coat of sparks...
"ARIAH" I yell, my hands and feet glowing as I dash forward, tackling her amidst the grey, blue,
and red energy, disappearing into its solid haze.
the energy reversed coming from all directions, collecting around the two of us, making a purple
barrier brightening into a haze of light.
I feel a burst of heat travel through me. and the world vanishes with Fwishh!
Darkness..... dead silence
