But..... is he?"
She cringed squeezing her eyes shut as she leaned forward, pulling her hair as the let out a
scream that echoed throughout the
the forest.... birds flew from out of the green tops of the forest trees.
ch. 5 A FLOWERS HEART-BEAT
It was night. Alydis sits on the tree-branch, her legs hung down, the full moon, bright and round
glowed sharply ahead, glimmering
upon the water dancing in it light.
it was a peaceful night. the still humid air, a slight breeze now and then, the sleep inducing
sound of crickets resonating dynamically
like an orchestra.
I appear behind her, holding a white blanket. "listen." i say raping it around her shoulders as i sit
down next to her,
"I've been worried about you. ever since what happened in the forest" my honesty just seemed
to deflect off her, like the light upon
the water in front of me. it sounded vague.
alydis just stared into the distance. with no response.
I looked down, i felt bad for her... but i didn't know why. something had to be missing. i knew that
it was something she didn't want
to tell me, something that's gone unexpressed.
I don't tell her this, I don't know why.
So, i can only relate.
"I know how you feel" i say staring into the distance, kicking my feet as they dangle below me,
just aside hers.
''Put in a position, where you feel like nothing is worth it." i look dawn at the water. it lapped
against the rocks soundly.
"A deep deep heavy feeling, that weighs you down infinitely. a feeling of: "i don't want to do it."
"Its not worth it." "I just wanna die."
"Go to sleep. and never wake up again" pink energy danced around us. it was a color i had
never seen. it was powerful
"Love" it whispered echoing throughout its self. "Family"....... family.....family" it faded into the
wind.
a smile creped to lydia's lips, and the tension left her body as she let out a small laugh under
her breath. this made me smile.
there was a pause. the wind died down, it's eerie whistle fading with the sound of the crickets
chirping, and leaves swaying in
the moon-light.
this caught my attention.
alydis dug her nails into the white blanket I wrapped around her shoulders.
"I'm sorry saru." she whimpered tensely.
There was a sudden burst of white energy. shaking the entire forest, knocking alydis and I from
our position in the tree. i fell down
striking the forest floor with the sound of sticks cracking beneath me like bones on a hollow rock
echoing as I go un-continuous with
a ring in my ears..............
i hear muffled screams. echoing through-out the dark of my lucid continuous like distant torture
in a cave. i hear another burst
of energy and then another.
"Saru"..... a wise voice says, it was a voice i had never heard.
"You are, too g-" My eyes shoot open with a startling sense of fear. the light around me is
bright. moving in blurred, stretched frames like the
moonlight's reflection on the lake. a man is running past. the fearful, horrors expression on his
face is more defined than the long
blurr of his white clothing as he looks back. his scream just another of many, drowned out by the
ring in my ears.
my heart loud as it thunders in my chest, loud in my ears.
"Goooo.... save her ...Ariah"... the wise whispery voice fading into my rapid heart-beat like wind
through the trees.
I slowly stood up. looking at the flames that covered all around me.
"The energy will guide you"
green energy lit up a small indentation of trees just wide enough to fit through.
I take off as fast as i can. my bare feet a blur of color. i don't hear the sound of the horror that
surround me. nothing but the pound
of my thundering heart, my heavy breath and the desperate crunch of the leaves below my feet
as i run. trees whipping past in an array
of golden yellow and red as they burn all around me.
I look to the left a woman lies dead in the flames. held fast by a tree branch that covers her legs,
as a baby kicks and screams, flailing
and crying in the grip of her blackened hand. a man carries his wife in his arms. a tree
collapses, smashing the two in a display of sparks and
heat. a dead child... his sister younger refusing to leave him, digging her fingernails into the
ground, then reaching out as an older sibling
pulls her away.
red and blue energy blind me. i could hardly see the green energy.
"shes alive, "she's alive" "she's alive" "she's alive" i plead in my head, i squeezed my eyes shut
as a tree-branch ahead of me breaks "Shes
alive" "She's alive" "She's alive" "She's alive" "She's ali-"
"SARU!!" alydis's voice screams. my eyes burst open and i jump to the right just as a burning
tree-branch crashes where i was
"saru." the wise voice says. "trust the energy"... a green flash light up through the blue and red
energy, it blinks with the sound of my
rapid heart beat Th-thud!!
"Follow...us" it echoes with a whisper. fluctuating with a TH-thud!!!
"What are you waiting for" lydia's voice comes again, echoing in and out of the distance.
"NOTHING" i scream. dashing faster then i have ever towards the green energy
"NOTHING!!!"..........
the green energy fluctuates with a TH-THUD! brightening into a green haze.........
"trust us"..."trust me"..."trust all of us" the three whispers echo. "Shes here".....
"Ariah!!" i yell running towards her.
Ariah sits on her knees, pushing on a girls chest. the tears streaming down her cheeks
shimmering like ice in the golden yellow and
red flames that surround us. "comeback... please,"she sobbed stopping me dead in my tracks.
she didn't respond
"She can't hear you." the wise voice says.
Ariah cringes then blows into the girl's mouth. "I won't leave you" she says her voice no more
than a distant echo as she begins to push
on the girl's chest again. but her words still remain." I wont leave you" "I" "I" won't leave you"
"won't leave you" "leave you" you you..
a tear splats upon the back of her hand as she pushes vigorously.
"I can't leave you" she says reaching her hand to her mouth, biting the inside of her palm."
you're worth more than death" she squeezes
her eyes shut, and rips her hand away. blood begins to run down her arm.
"Tap her shoulder"... the wise voice whispers.
i hesitate. i didn't know what will happen.
"Don't worry. Trust me"the wise voice fading into the wind that gusted. blowing dark leaves that
crinkle as they blow about my feet.
in in a hasteful motion i reach out tapping her shoulder. and the world seems to brighten.
i stood. a shadow among the flicker of the flames. behind ariah, the sound of her cry no longer
distant echo.
"Ariah?" i ask.
ariah startled by my voice, turned to face me the tears streaming down her cheeks stir
something within me. i knew something horrible
had happened. my heart dissolved in my stomach.
"Aris isn't breathing" she whimpers
i look down at the girl. grey energy resonated from her lifeless body. fading about the fires.
"Death." it whispers. the word crushed me weighing me down infinitely.
ariah reaches her arm out holding her hand above the girl's face blood ran down her palm,
collecting at the tip of her thumb. a drop
of blood splatters upon the girl's forehead. it started to glow brightening into a white light.
It exploded.
Ariah flew back, violently striking a tree, falling to the ground with a solid Thump!
"I won't stop" she sobbed, scrambling back up trudging back over to the girl with a weak crawl.
she held her trembling hand over the girl. another blood drop splatter upon the girl's forehead. it
started to glow. then erupted
Ariah flew back once more violently striking against a tree, falling to her knees. the arch of her
back, rising and falling with the breath
of her tears
i stood. horrified at the display. the image crushed my heart...
Aris was dead....
" NO She's not!" aris yells angrily looking up at me, having seen my thought. her expression
startles me, the tear stains running down
cheeks appear a pinkish yellow in the heat of the flames. i've never seen her like this. the anger
in her eyes, blurred by the fear of a sliver of
hope.
silence falls between the two of us...
"Don't Ever say that!" she says. a bold scene in her wavery voice.
Something tenses within me.
"Listen To Me!" i say "If We Don't Get Out Of Here Where Both Wanna Die!"
"I DON'T CARE!" She screams "Aris is still alive!"... "I Can Still Feel Her Energy!"
"You don't understand." I say grabbing her arm "We need to g-
"NO! NO! NO!" she cries shaking her head. As she zaps me with white energy from her hand.
I fly back, sliding across the flickering shadows of the forest floor, amids dry dirt and dead
leaves, my body goes numb as I realize the the
branches are starting to collapse inn.
"ARIAH!" I yell scrambling back to my feet, just as a tree trunk snaps next to me. a tree-branch
falls to my left, and i watch as another falls
landing aside ariah "The trees are starting to fall apart! ... if one falls on either one of us Were
both dead!"
A tree branch snaps above Ariah falling within a coat of sparks...
"ARIAH" I yell, my hands and feet glowing as I dash forward, tackling her amidst the grey, blue,
and red energy, disappearing into its solid haze.
the energy reversed coming from all directions, collecting around the two of us, making a purple
barrier brightening into a haze of light.
I feel a burst of heat travel through me. and the world vanishes with Fwishh!
Darkness..... dead silence
