Moosenewsletter Feb March April May2017
Moosenewsletter Feb March April May2017
Chapter meetings for all co-workers are held each month on the second and fourth Mondays at 6:30 P.M.
The snow blower raffle, once again, was successful. Congratulations to Beth Sellers for having the lucky winning
ticket. Beth, hope you dont need to use it much this winter.
Baily Flannigan and Meaghen Grant, escorted by Dave Grant, represented Claymont Moose at the Youth Awareness
Conference in Maryland and spoke about safe surfing. It was very informative.
Congratulations to Brian Brees, the winner of the fall pool league. Sid Trump from Claymont Lodge and
Kelly Miller from Newark Lodge will represent the Sixth District in the Karaoke competition at the Mid-Year Conference in
February. Good luck to you both.
We continue to receive many compliments on the warmth and friendliness of our Lodge. Because of this the Lodges
membership, for the first time, has over 300 members. Lets continue to be generous and friendly to our members, guests,
and visitors.
Our goal is to continue our charitable Lodge activities for Mooseheart and Moosehaven and to reach out to our
communitys needs. To all those who are participating towards our goal, Thank You !
Fraternally yours,
Bob Cannon
Our parties starting with Halloween to New Years Eve were a success. A big Thank You to all those who
participated in these events and to the volunteers who helped set up and clean up. The Chairperson for each party
did a wonderful job. I want to personally thank all those who helped to decorate the Lodge for Christmas and for
taking the decorations down. To our Brothers for climbing the ladder to get the decorations and putting them away,
your help was appreciated! When we work as a team, much can be accomplished. I want to also extend a big
Thank You to Chairman Lisa Sell who conducted the recent jewelry sale fundraiser that was so profitable for our Chapter.
We have many events coming up in the next few months. Please remove the last sheet of the Newsletter for
dates and times. You can place this sheet somewhere as a reminder. Speaking of which, a GENTLE REMINDER,
when we have events and there is a SIGN UP SHEETwhich is posted on the bulletin board or door (at the
entry to the Social Quarters)please take the time to write your name and what you will be bringing. In this
way, we will have a count plus we will know what delicious food you will be donating. It is a stressful time for the
Chairperson who has to make sure there is enough food. Thank you in advance for doing this.
How about our Friday night dinners? Is there a time when you could use your culinary skills and prepare a
dinner? Rita Anderson will answer any questions you might have. We will be there to assist you. Hopefully,
you will give it a try sometime. We hosted our first ever Happy Hour Pot Luck Dinner on a recent Friday evening
where attendees were entertained by live music. We plan to sponsor these dinners in the coming months and hope
that more members will participate in the camaraderie.
Thank you, once again, for all you do for our Lodge. Our members are what make this Lodge tick. Stay safe,
warm, and healthy. See you soon.
Our defending circle has been broken with the passing of the following member:

Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to his family and friends

ELECTION OF OFFICERS (New Lodge and Chapter year begins May 1, 2017 thru April 30, 2018)
Holding an office is a very important responsibility requiring personal commitment and obligation
in order to be successful. If you are interested in submitting your name for nomination of an office, be
sure to talk with a current officer to learn more about the process and duties involved. Once your name
is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee who may also consider and recommend
other candidates who they consider most qualified. We need capable individuals to help lead the Lodge
and Chapter--individuals who seriously want to get involved, fully understand their responsibilities, and
are willing to fulfill all of the obligations of an officer.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
M-O-T-H-E-R
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell
"MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
