1.

Select airfoil
2. Input Reynolds number, Angle of attack (I used Alpha=0) and Ncrit
3. Enter QDES as a command and the Cp vs x plot for = 0 should pop up.
4. Use MARK command to specify boundaries on the top side to be modified. I
specified the boundaries close to the LE and TE but made sure that the
stagnation point was not aected in the modification and that the TE retained
its shape to ensure that the Kutta condition is still met
5. I focused on Cp distribution for the top side of the airfoil since that was
specified in the assignment. And then I made points to create my ideal
laminar flow Cp at = 0 (I used a plot from the book by Vos. Check under
laminar flow airfoils)
6. Use MODI command to adjust for waviness and inconsistencies in the Cp
curve before initiating the new airfoil creation using the EXEC command.
PS: You might have to do this several times till you are satisfied because it is a trial
and error method. Each run should give you a clear picture of what to do and so you
know where to focus on in your next run. As a trick I made use of the gridlines for
my points so I know exactly where to adjust and I also made screen shots of the
current design before running the analysis of the created airfoil to save enable me
recreate my previous design and be able to modify it based on my deductions from
the analysis
