Homework 3
Due: 0900 Tuesday 7 October, 2014
Problem 1
In the circuit below, if
i g ( t ) =15 cos ( 1000t )

(a) Draw the equivalent circuit in frequency domain

(b) Use the node-voltage method to find the steady-state expression for v o (t ) .

I 5 mH
8 v o (t)
i g (t)
100 F
2.5 I

Problem 2
The op amp in the circuit shown in Fig. 2 is ideal. Calculate the average power
delivered to the 1k resistor when v g=4 cos 5000 t V.

Problem 5

The amplitude of the sinusoidal voltage is 150 2 V and its frequency is 10000
rad/s. The load resistor can be varied from 1 to 20 , and the load inductor can be
varied from 1.0 to 8.0 mH.
(a) Solve the Thevenin equivalent of the circuit

(b) Calculate the average power delivered to the load when Ro=10 and
Lo=6 mH

(c) Determine the settings of Ro and Lo that will result in the most average
power transfer.

(d) If there is no constraints on Ro and Lo , determine the settings of Ro

and Lo that will result in the maximum average power transfer.

(e) What is the maximum average power that can be delivered to the load in (d)?
