    Abu Ayyub al-Ansari placed his forehead on the grave of Prophet Muhammad. Marwan Ibn al-Hakam saw him and held his neck, but Abu Ayyub said he came to visit the Prophet, not the stone. Abu Ayyub had heard the Prophet say not to weep for Islam if qualified people were in charge, but to weep if unqualified people were in charge. Al-Hakim related this hadith in his book Mustadrak and classified it as sahih, and ad-Dhahabi agreed with this authentication.

    ) . Marwan Ibn al-Hakam ( ) saw him and held his
    neck. Abu Ayyub( ) said I did not come to the Stone. I came to
    the Messenger of Allah () . I heard the Messenger of Allah (
    ) say : Do not weep for Islam if the qualified people were in-
    charge, but weep for it, if it was under the charge of unqualified. (Al-
    Hakim related this Hadith inMustadrak and said it is Sahih. ad-
    Dhahabi (who is held in great respect by Salafis) agreed to his
    authentication.
