ABSTRACT

Work motivation is a condition that affects to arouse, excite, and maintain


behaviors associated with the work environment (Mangkunagara, 2008). The purpose of
this study was to determine the work motivation and performance of nurses at the
General Hospital of Jailolo.
This type of research using quantitative methods, the design of this study is
correlatively with cross-sectional approach. The population in this research that nurses
working in patient wards of the General Hospital of Jailolo were about 85 nurses.
Samples were taken amounted to 46 obtained by using purposive sampling technique.
Instrument in this study was a questionnaire and observation sheet. The data obtained in
this study were processed using Chi-quare test with significance level () 0:05.
The result showed that a nurse with a poor pattern of working were 21.7% and
motives are good work as much as 78.3%, nurses with low job expectations were 15.2%
and nurses with high job expectations were 84.8%. Performance results show that nurses
with a good performance were 15.2% and nurses with good performance as much as
84.8%.
From the results of statistical tests motif working relationship with the
performance of nurses using the Chi-square value obtained = 0.000 less than the value
= 0.05 which means that H0 is rejected. Relationships work expectations with nurse's
performance earned value = 0.006 less than the value = 0.05 which means that H 0 is
rejected.
The conclusion of this research is; there was a significant relationship between
the motives of work performance and work expectations nurses and nurse's performance
at the District General Hospital of West Halmahera District Jailolo.
