Potential relevance to This article gives many worthwhile strategies and suggestions to incorporate
your research topic successful silent reading time during the class day. There are two routines that
and study: are described and can be used in the classroom: Scaffolded Silent Reading and
R5. ScSR incorporates leveled books, in which the students have the choice of
a book on their level to read during the ScSR time. To keep the students
motivated, genre wheels and reading logs are described in detail, which can be
effective to use in my study. Mini-lessons are also explained, to help the
students understand how to spend the ScSR time. There are also examples of
teacher data collection logs. R5 includes many of the same ideas, but it takes a
lot more time to implement in the classroom. I will take a lot of ideas from this
article, which was a very valuable read.
