The following is a description of the program and how to use it broken down by t
he area
of the GUI.
Algo ID in Hex:
In the box enter the Algorithm ID of your Net Sentinel key in its hex value. Thi
s will
be a 4 digit number for Net C's and an 8 digit number for Net Pro's.
Dept Name:
Here you will enter the name of the Sentinel Security Server's department name.
If using
NSRVGX you will see in the first line of the status screen the protocols loaded
and the
name of the server followed by a number (typically 0). Use this name (default is
NETINEL) in this box. With other Sentinel Security Servers (ie NSSRVICE, NSRVDI,
NSRVDN,
NSRVNI) it will be the name in the command line that follows /DN:, the alphanume
ric
value that follows this command line switch is the department name of your Senti
nel
Security Server, and is to be used in the available box on Netinel Medic.
Max Servers:
Select the number of servers you wish to search for. Select 1 for fast diagnosti
c and 5
for more thorough diagnostics. If you have more than 1 server running please sel
ect the
actual number of Sentinel servers you have running.
Key Type:
Select the type of key that is used on the server machine. If you do not know, c
ontact
your software provider.
Protocols:
Select the protocols you wish to test the network over. Note that "Local" means
you are
running the Netinel Medic on the same machine that the Net Sentinel protection d
evice is
attached to. If you select "Local" and run the Netinel Medic on a machine where
the Net
Sentinel protection device is not installed you will get either a -19 error or -
10 error.
This is expected because the key is not local.
Run Diagnostics button:
This starts the diagnostic session for Netinel Medic. The results will be displa
yed in the
area just below it.
Stop:
This will abort all functions not yet performed. The process currently being per
fomed
will need to complete first and return an error/status before abort is complete.
Mode:
This is a label describing which protocol is being reported on.
Error:
In this area the error numbers are displayed for easy reference to your API.TXT
file or
for you tech support office.
Description:
This area gives you a brief description of what the error code represents.
Suggestions (buttons):
These buttons when pressed provide you with a detailed definition of the error/s
tatus
and possible resolutions to the cause of the error.
