Summary:

The story of Sugidanon Bayluhay started on the Kingdom.There was a

King who serve his Kingdom very well. In a Kingdom of aetas", a king
which has a son named Maragudo the braviest of them all which will be a
king soon, a strong handsome and kind hearted person . So the King said if
there will be the newly king, there must be a queen.On the other hand,
there was a girl named Maniwang-niwang, a simple girl who really adored
Maragudo very well , but she didnt ever try to tell the true feelings to him,
but didnt even know that Maragudo has the same feelings also. One day
its time for Maragudo to find for her queen and to marry and deserve for
his love .But Maragsa the witch ,who have feelings also with Maragudo
poisoned both of them. After the successful plan of Maragsa, Maniwang-
niwang felt in pain, suffering and left crying seeing that Marigudo is in the
hand of Maragsa now deserving to marry instead of her.So Maniwang
-niwang bring to Apu Tukan to cure and help Marigudo to awake from the
charm , but the only way to get out of his charm is the true loves kiss. So
they forced Marigudo and Maniwang- niwang to kiss and the charm was
lost.

On the other Kingdom,there was a King named Macatunao. The Malays

were being enslaved beyond his knee. He has three knights whom he
trusted the most Balotig, Linog and Buhawi. Amaya the daughter of Datu
Puti who was attracted by the King, but Amaya refuses it, so the King
Macatunao get angry of it. Datu Puti almost died when he after fought with
King Macatunao, but the servants tried to help them and escape the
Kingdom of King Macatunao through the use of ship until they visit the
kingdomof aetas seeing celebrating. The aetas thought they are
enemies but they notice that it was Malays.Datu Puti ask some help to eat
because they are hungry, so King Maragudo help them. The Malays ask for
some piece of the land of the aetas ,but the aetas ask for a barter, so
the Malays gave them a hat and necklace that made of gold.

My Reaction:
In the story of the play named Sugidanon ,that we watced last Feb 13 in
Western Visayas State University, my reaction is that it shows different
aspects of beliefs, religion, tradition and culture in different race. It
reminds with me that we must respect other people no matter how differ
they are and treat them equally, the Theme of the story is Unity because it
shows that helping one another is key to success, like what aetas and
malays shown in the play. Beautiful does not mean the physical
appearance of a person but it means it measures who you are and what
attitude you have. For me, It was a nice performance ,gives me more
knowledge about what Filipino culture and tradition in the past and how
tribes live in that instances and all about. It seems that the play was
humorous giving an audience to catch an attention which is very
entertaining.I have no idea that it was a musical play, so I really like it
because in terms of music especially to my own language ,gives me
rhythm to watch. So highly approved and recommended that we must
watch these because it reflect where do we belong as a Filipino.
