HowtoconfigureWWDDEInterfacetocreateCSVfilesfromWonderWareInTouch.

PreConfiguration:

BeforeattemptingtoconfigureWWDDE,thereareafewstepsthatmustbedonefirst:

1.EnsureWonderWareInTouchisarchivingdata.Historicaldataisstoredinfileswithextension.LGH.Findthesefiles LastModifiedbyNoAuthorNameAvailable!.
whichyouneedtoknowlater.Next,gointoWonderWareandlookuptagnamesintheTagnameDictionary.

2.WhenrunningInTouch,openConfigure>AccessNamesandeitherAddanewnameormodifyexistingnameifyou
haveonealreadyforHISTDATA.EXE.EnterHistDataforApplication,aTopicNamewithoutspacesorspecialcharacters,
andselectDDEasshownbelow:

3.SetupatleastonevariableinWIMS.OpenWIMSclient,clickSetup>Edit/ViewVariableandselecttheInterface
tab.EnteraName,theTagexactlyasitappearsinWonderWare,andselectaStatistic.

4.EnsurethatWWDDEisinstalledonthesamecomputerasWonderWareInTouch,andcancommunicatewithWIMS
clientdatabase.NOTE:theWWDDEwillrequiresomeoneloggedontokeeptheservicerunningitdoesnotrunlikea
normalsystemserviceduetothefactitusesDDEtechnology.

5.EnsureDDEX.OCXfileisloadedontothecomputerwhereWWDDEislocatedandregisterit(seearticleQ11687)

Configuratioin:

1.RunOPSSQL_WWDDE

RuntheOPSSQL_WWDDEprogramandthefollowingscreenwillappear.Noticethatnoneofthesettingswillbecorrectfor
yoursystem,allofthemneedtoconfigured.

2.ConfigureOPSSQLFacility

ClicktheAddFacilitybuttontoaddyourOPSSQLfacility.Thefollowingscreenwillappearwhereyoucanclickthedrop
downarrowandselectyourfacility.ClicktheOKbuttonaftermakingaselection.

3.ConfigureLinkTopic

Lookingatthebottomhalfofthedisplay,weseeseveralsettingstofillin.Whenyoumovethemousepointeroverthetitle
ofasetting,ahintwillbedisplayed.

MovethemousepointeroverthewordsLinkTopicandyouwillseethehintdisplayedbelow:

InWonderWare,youmustsetupaTopicNameforHISTDATA.EXEasshowninthePreConfigurationsteps.Enterthe
samenameyoutypedfortheTopicNameitmustbeexactlythesame.

4.ConfigureHistoricalDataFolder

Thenextsettingdownasksforthelocationofthehistoricaldatafiles,thisistheLGHfiles.Noticetheelipsebuttontothe
farright,clickonit.

OnthenextscreenclickthedropdownforFilterTypes:andselect*.lghoption.

Nownavigatethroughthesystemuntilyoucansee.LGHtypefiles.

InatypicalWonderWareinstallationandconfigurationusingthedemo,theseresideat:

C:\ProgramFiles\FactorySuite\InTouch\Demo\1024

5.ConfigureInTouchApplicationFolder

ThenextsettingdownisaskingforthelocationoftheApplicationFolder.Ifwelookatthehint,weseethattheapplication
itreferstoisthe'Tagname'library.Again,noticetheelipsebuttontothefarright,clickonit.

OnthenextscreenclicktheFilterType:dropdownandselectTagname*.*.

Nownavigatethroughthesystemandfindtagnamefiles.Inourdemowefoundtheminthesameplaceasthe.LGHfiles.

InatypicalWonderWareinstallationandconfigurationusingthedemo,thesefilesresideunder:

C:\ProgramFiles\FactorySuite\InTouch\DemoApp\1024

6.ConfigureHISTDATA.EXEFolder

ThenextsettingdownasksforthelocationoftheHISTDATA.EXEprogram.Lookingatthehint,weseethattheapplication
itreferstoisthefilenamed"histdata.exe".Clickontheelipsebuttontothefarrightofthisoption.

Onthenextscreenwewanttofilterwhatfilespopupontherighthandside,selectthedropdownFilterTypeandlook
forhistdata.exe

Nownavigatethroughyoursystemuntilyoufindthehistdata.exeprogram.

InatypicalWonderWareinstallationandconfiguration,thisfileresidesunder:

C:\ProgramFiles\FactorySuite\InTouch

7.ConfigureOutputFolder

Thissettingisoptional.Wecanseefromthehintthatifyouleavethissettingblank,ithasadefault:

TheWWDDEprogramwillcreatea"Cache"folderunderthesamefolderitisinstalled.Noticeinourexamplewechosea
differentdrive.Youcanuseanydriveincludingmappedshareddrives.

8.ERROR:UnabletosubmitrequestthruDDE.CheckSettings.

Ifanyofthesettingshavenotbeenaccomplishedaccordingtotheseproceduresoriftheyarewrong,youwillseethis
errormessage:

Doublecheckallpreconfigurationstepshavebeendone,andallsettingsarecorrect.Thisprogramhasbeenthoroughly
testedonaWonderWaresystemrunningversion7.1.

9.ImportScheduletoRun

NOTE:InorderforthisscheduleruntocreateCSVfilesautomatically,ausermustalwaysbeloggedin.

SettheImportScheduletoRuntimetowhatevertimeofthedayyouwishforittocreateCSVfilesautomatically.The
timeisinmilitaryformatsohoursafternoonarethattimeplus12(i.e.,1PMis13:00)

Inourexample,wewantWWDDEtorequestCSVfilesfromHISTDATAat3:05PM(15:05).NotetheLastRanboxshows
thelasttimetheserviceran.Thefirsttimethiswillautomaticallydefaultto14dayspriortothecurrentday.Thiscanbe
changedintheINTERFACE.INIfileaftersettingshavebeensaved.

10.SaveSettings

Nowthateverythingisproperlyconfigured,clicktheSaveSettingsbuttontosaveyourcurrentsettings.

11.StartService

IfyoucanclickCreateFilewithagoodresponseinthestatusbar,thenyouarereadytoruntheservice.

ClickonthemenuoptionServices>Start

Ifyoudidnotsavesettingsoryoumadeanychangestothesettings,youwillseethefollowingoptions:
