Topic: Informal Letter Writing Time Duration: 45 minutes

Objectives: By the end of the lesson students should be able to:


- Differentiate between formal and informal letter writing.
- Write an informal letter.

Multimodal Semiotic Resources:


White Board, Board marker, audio recording, print outs of the recording, white
sheets.
Learning Spaces:
Class room, ITC, pairs discussion
Procedure:
Warm up Homework given to the students in the first class will be

Teachers The teacher will discuss the differences between formal and
input informal correspondences and will also discuss how to write an

Activity 2 Followed by audio recording the teacher will give the hand outs
(8 minutes) of the recording to the students (See appendix B). The students
will read the handouts carefully. After five minutes the students
will give back the hand outs to the teacher and discuss their
understanding in pairs.
Activity 3 The students will write a letter to one of their friends with whom
(10 minutes) the students are going to spend their summer vacation.
Activity 4 The students will read each others letter and find out the
(5 minutes) similarities and differences. The teacher will select four
students randomly to read their letters to the class and the
teacher will give feedback.
Home task Write the answer to your own letter which you have written
(03 minutes) today.
