Project Brief

Technical Drawing I - EMP1102

For your final project, you are requested to draw a complete technical drawing (isometric and
orthographic drawing) of mechanical components. You can choose any mechanical part which
have at least minimum of 5 sub components but it must be an actual mechanical components.
For example carburetor, disc break assembly, shock absorber assembly, piston & connecting
rod systems, and etc. Your drawing must be in A2 size paper. Fully maximize the paper
space.

In each of the drawing, you are required to show:-

a. The differences between the construction lines, object lines, dimension lines, hidden
lines and centerlines.
b. The views you think are necessary to give a clear picture of the object, in particular
sectional views.
c. The full dimension of each parts/objects.
d. The title block of each drawing including name and organization, tolerance, type of
material, scale, drawing page, surface finishing, heat treatment and etc.
e. The part lists to indicate each component such as component description, component
part number, and component quantity.
f. The drawing symbols you think are necessary to be used.

What you need to do?

1. Select/find a suitable mechanical component.


2. Present to your lecturer for approval (in week 8). During the presentation, you are
required to explain briefly about the component and how are you going draw its.
3. Once approved, you may start your drawing.
4. A complete drawing must be submitted by Friday on the week 17.
5. For late submission, penalty of 10% from total mark will be implemented.
