Narrative Report on Deworming

More than one third of the worlds population has worm infestation. This is more
likely present in children and the poor, especially those living in poor areas.

Worm infestation causes several nutritional impairments such as malabsorption of

nutrients and loss of appetite which could lead to reduction in energy and ultimately in
cognitive impairment.

This problem is being addressed by the Department of Health through the conduct
of Combined Mass Drug Administration in public schools against helmithiasis.

At Habay Elementary School, another School Deworming Day was conducted on

February 03, 2017. This program aimed at deworming learners from kindergarten to
grade six.

The program was led by HES teachers, Ms. Mae L. Cendana and Ms. Zandra
Manzanilla through the assistance provided by the local DOH and barangay health
officer.
