Rehabilitation of slum and standardizing their life by providing adequate
Infrastructure.
AIM:

OBJECTIVE:

To improve and upgrade existing slum area.

To provideserviced sitesfor new housingdevelopments instead of building
complete houses.
To ensure fundamental values of securityin a good living environment.
Achieve a communitycharacter by establishing harmony between the built
environment and the people.
Create a balanced community of various socio-groups to evolve a framework
through design.
Ensure maximum bio climatic aspects in design.

MOTIVATION:

A slum is a housing settlement where we find lack of lots of basic aminities.

Also its a huge community which people are of below average living standards.

There are a lot of things a designer could do on behalf of the infrastructure, where they
live to improvise their life style.

DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH WORK:

There are a lot of things to study from the perspective of life style of a particular
community (slums) hidden in an extreme urban space mismatching with the context.

Slum is a birthplace of crime too, Even recent newslines on Soumya murder case proved
how a slum creates criminals, also recent studies on CORE TOWN AREAS like
Mattancherry where people transform to criminals due to the low living standards and
uneducated life. From a designer perspective in long run,there are a lot of things a
designer could do.
