model of how your outline should look.
Claim: Lincoln took a slow and planned out approach to ending slavery.

Reason 1: The war made him go from moral which was the way he was his whole life to more of
a militaristic standpoint on slavery.
Evidence: From Lincoln choosing to keep fighting and abolish slavery. To Lincoln saying that the
13th is the cure and making it more militaristic (MOV).
Justification: This shows the contrast from the way he was before the war to the way he was
toward the end of the war. It also shows that he only changed his viewpoint towards the end of
the war, showing that he took a slow, planned approach to ending slavery.
Evidence: He said he was naturally anti slavery. (Doc F)
Justification: This meaning that he was always against slavery and had a strong moral
viewpoint. This shows that he had a moral viewpoint ever since he could remember. This
showed that he was still morally against slavery but only made his political stance military for the
public appeal and as a last resort.

Reason 2: The war made him have to use a legal perspective on slavery because he was able
to use it to preserve the union
Evidence: Lincoln says that all men are created equal during his gettysburg address. And that it
would make a new birth of freedom. (MOV)
Justification: This shows that Lincoln had legal reasons to end slavery. It also proves that he had
a slow and steady move on slavery.
Evidence: Lincoln says that he did not disturb slavery. But then when he did he gave a 100 days
notice before he did anything.
Justification: This shows that above all, Lincoln liked to plan out his actions a 100 days before
he took action. It also proves that he liked to keep it legal and and inform people before taking
any actions.

Reason 3: He moved to a bit of a moral standpoint when they were near the end of the war
because he could express that and not have to worry about losing the union because of it
Evidence: Lincoln thought that without ending slavery there would be no real end to the war
(MOV).
Justification: This showed his moral arguments towards the end of the war and how he felt
comfortable with going public with his moral statements. It also shows that Lincoln had a plan to
end the war and that plan was ending slavery.
Evidence: He said if slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong (Doc F)
Justification: This shows his proclaimed moral beliefs towards the end of the war. It also shows
that even though Lincoln was against slavery for the highest moral reasons, that he still slowed
it down and ended slavery legally.

Counterclaim: Some people disagree and claim that Lincoln quickly changed his arguments and
was very fluid on the subject of slavery.

Conclusion:

Begin Essay here: Please follow model below

Lincoln, one of the most revered presidents of all time for freeing slaves. But did he
always do it for the moral argument? Throughout the war Lincoln was on his toes on the
argument of slavery. He always had to be on the right side of the people lest he wanted to
rebellions on his hands. The war made him go from moral which was the way he was his
whole life to more of a militaristic standpoint on slavery. This is shown by many different
reasons. Three of which are; how he went from moral standpoint to militaristic standpoint on
slavery, how he used his public legal standpoint on slavery to preserve the union, and how he
was able to go public about his moral beliefs towards the end of the war.

The war made him go from moral which was the way he was his whole life to more
of a militaristic standpoint on slavery. In the movie it is shown that Lincoln chose to keep
fighting and abolish slavery and then it went to Lincoln saying that the 13th is the cure and
making it more militaristic (MOV). This shows the contrast from the way he was before the
war to the way he was toward the end of the war. It also shows that he only changed his
viewpoint towards the end of the war, showing that he took a slow, planned approach to
ending slavery. In document F Lincoln says that he said he was naturally anti slavery (Doc F).
This meaning that he was always against slavery and had a strong moral viewpoint. This
shows that he had a moral viewpoint ever since he could remember. This showed that he
was still morally against slavery but only made his political stance military for the public
appeal and as a last resort.

The war made him have to use a legal perspective on slavery because he was able
to use it to preserve the union. During the gettysburg address Lincoln says that all men are
created equal during his gettysburg address. And that it would make a new birth of freedom
(MOV). This shows that Lincoln had legal reasons to end slavery. It also proves that he
had a slow and steady move on slavery. In document B Lincoln says that he did not disturb
slavery. But then when he did he gave a 100 days notice before he did anything (Doc B). This
shows that above all, Lincoln liked to plan out his actions a 100 days before he took
action. It also proves that he liked to keep it legal and and inform people before taking
any actions.

He moved to a bit of a moral standpoint when they were near the end of the war
because he could express that and not have to worry about losing the union because of
it. Lincoln thought that without ending slavery there would be no real end to the war (MOV).
This showed his moral arguments towards the end of the war and how he felt
comfortable with going public with his moral statements. It also shows that Lincoln had a
plan to end the war and that plan was ending slavery. Lincoln said if slavery is not wrong,
nothing is wrong (Doc F). This shows his proclaimed moral beliefs towards the end of the
war. It also shows that even though Lincoln was against slavery for the highest moral
reasons, that he still slowed it down and ended slavery legally.

Some people disagree and claim that Lincoln quickly changed his arguments and
was very fluid on the subject of slavery. But this is impossible because Lincoln did not
disturb slavery. But then when he did he gave a 100 days notice before he did anything (Doc
B). This showed that though Lincoln could have done everything more quickly, he still
took the slow and planned approach to ending slavery. Then we also see how Lincoln
thought that, without ending slavery there would be no real end to the war (MOV). This shows
that the people that think that Lincoln acted fast and without a plan were wrong and that
Lincoln took a slow and planned approach to ending slavery.

So as we can clearly see, Lincoln took a slow and planned out approach to ending
slavery. This is shown in many circumstances and by different faces. It all comes down to how
Lincoln always planned, he never, ever, did anything about slavery until he gave 100 days
notice. This alone should prove that Lincoln took a slow and planned approach to slavery but
because there is more it more than sufficiently proves that Lincoln took a slow and planned
approach to slavery. So let the evidence take you and understand, it is your choice to
understand. So do you understand?
