February Team Newsletter

What an amazing year it has been so far, and we are now only one month away from our first
competition! It is extremely important that your children are in every class throughout the month. We
will be putting our final touches on choreography and making sure everything is just right. Missing even
one class can make it difficult for them to catch up. Please pay close attention to the Mock
Competition Schedule included in this newsletter as this will be the only full costume run through we
will have before competition.

Account Reminder
Just a reminder that in order for your child to receive their costumes and be eligible to compete in the
first competition their account must be current and in good standing. If their account is delinquent,
and we do not have an active payment plan setup, they will be spaced out for the first competition and
each subsequent competition until their account is brought current, or we have worked out a mutual
payment agreement.

JUMP and NUVO Dance Conventions
If you are not on a company and you would like to go to the JUMP convention on March 30-April 1,
payment and registration forms are due by February 6th. NUVO will be held May 12-13, Nuvo payment
and registration form will be due by March 23. You can pick up a registration form at the front
desk.These dance conventions are a great opportunity for your child to take classes from some of the
most well known instructors across the country. These opportunities will help your child grow and
progress even more as a dancer. Please support our company members by coming to cheer them on at
competitions!

Scholarship Auditions
Scholarship Auditions will be held on May 6th. Scholarships cover tuition for a students most expensive
team. Portfolios will be due by April 20th at 10:00pm. No late applications will be accepted. Start
thinking about how you can be creative and stand out now. Information sheets will be available at the
front desk. Scholarships offered include The Forsyth Fine Arts Scholarship, Defying Gravity Dance
Scholarship, Defying Gravity Cheer Scholarship, Fred Martin Performing Arts Scholarship, and
Forsyth Fine Arts Solo Scholarship.

Absences
We are only half way through this season and we have already seen a lot of absences in classes. Please
remember that every child is only allowed three absences per class for the whole year. If you miss
more than three non team classes, your child will need to make those classes up. If your child misses
more than 3 team classes they will be spaced out for the next performance or competition. Class make
up forms are at the front desk and need to be filled out and handed into one of the directors.
Spring Break
At Gravity we have three different school districts that feed into our studio, along with charter and
private schools. We also deal with year-round vs traditional school schedules. Due to this and the
various weeks that each students spring break falls on, we will not be taking days off for spring break.
If you have vacations scheduled during your childs spring break, they will need to use one of the 3
absences that are allotted to them for the year.

Picture Schedule
Our Team and Company Picture day will be held on March 10th and 11th. Picture day is mandatory for
all team and company members to attend. Every student will have a picture taken in each costume
they perform in.

Due to the limited space in the studio, Parents will not be able to come in to Studio 1
and watch during the Mock Competition. There will be a couple of studios set up as
