Topic: How Facebook affects the study of Hutech university students: reality and

solutions.

Background:

Following the development of high technology, social media exists as a tool for people
in order to communicate and approach each other. Therefore, many kinds of social
media are appeared to meet the various purposes of the users such as Twitter,
Instagram, Snapchat, . and especially Facebook for Vietnamese people. Facebook
was launched in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg to help university students in purpose of
identifying students who are residing in other residences. One month later, it was
expanded by Mark and friends to any Harvard university students. Later, Facebook
extended to all high schools local area networks, and then eventually expanded to
internet users all around the world. In 2008 Facebook reached 100 million active
users, half of them are spending more than 20 minutes in Facebook site per day. In
Vietnam there are a large number of people are using Facebook particularly from the
age of 11 to 25. According to the statistics on the internet, approximately 73.1% of the
population are using the Internet in our country joining Facebook. In this percentage
of students occupies the most of it. Today, University students can easily approach the
Internet and explore a lot of advantages through social media and other Internet-
related services due to the fact that they are young, energetic, creative generation. For
many reasons above, this study investigates how Facebook affects the study of Hutech
University students then leading to the reality and solutions. Almost every Hutech
University students choose Facebook as a mean to research, seek for informations and
share knowledge with other students in the same community.

Hutech University students often use Facebook for many

different purpose such as : chating with their friends, share information , capture
pictures,.. and share knowledge with other students in the same community

The main purpose of this paper focuses on how Facebook affects the study of Hutech
University. Although this kind of social media brings so many advantages but also
( anh nghi ne i vi Not only ) it can be harmful if students abuse it for unessential or
time-wasting purposes. For example, young people spend a lot of time to read
newfeeds or gossip about useless topics through Facebook. Therefor, we conduct this
research to look for the solutions of how Hutech University students can use Facebook
smarter and more logical. So The main purpose of this research is to expand on
previous research, explore the relationship between the effects of social networking
and students study efficiency, and to determine if social media interfering with
students academic lives.
