PARASITE CONTROL
De-worm adult cattle at least 2 times per year.
Calves should be de-wormed starting at 2 months of age then every two months to maximize
growth.
In areas where liver flukes are prevalent use Ivomec Plus or Valbazen.
Routine fecal exams by your veterinarian can determine if coccidiosis is a problem in your
animals. Fecal exams can also be used to evaluate the efficiency of your de-worming
program
Lice are particularly a problem in this area during the winter months. Cylence pour-on or
Durasect can be used for control of this problem. Pour on wormers will control lice as well as
some internal parasites.
Insecticide ear tags can be used during the spring and summer, but should be removed in the
fall.

NUTRITION
Selenium and Copper supplementation should be done in this area. Mineral mix and
injectable & boluses are available. It is recommended that calves be given Bo-Se at birth.

Please consult your veterinarian to assist in setting up a herd health program to meet the
particular needs of your herd.

*Bovishield must be given the first time to a non-pregnant animal following doses may be given
to pregnant animals.
