MYP Design Cycle Explanation

NOTES

The design cycle model represents the methodology designers follow to develop products. This
process allows the designer to go test and evaluate their solution of the problem. Design Cycle
is divided into 4 main parts. Inquiring and Analyzing is when students are presented with a
design situation, from which they identify a problem that needs to be solved. In order to reach
the aims of design, students should explain and justify the need for a solution to a problem. The
second one is developing ideas, this means to write a detailed specification, which drives the
development of solution. Students should develop a design specification which clearly states the
success, this is only one substep. The third step is Creating the solution, students plan the
creation of the chosen solution and follow the plan to create the prototype. The last step is
Evaluating which is to design tests to evaluate the solution, carry out those testes and
objectively evaluate its success. Students identify areas where the solution could be improved
and explain how their solution.
