    Statement Regarding Todays States Attorneys Decision


    The Springfield Police Department has issued the following statement regarding todays
    decision announced by States Attorney John Milhiser.

    The Springfield Police Department would like to thank the community for their support and
    patience during the Illinois State Police (ISP) investigation of the officer involved shooting that
    occurred on January 23, 2017. We appreciate the ISP and States Attorneys time and
    professionalism as a full and thorough investigation was conducted into this tragic incident.

    The department expresses our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Rogers family.

    We continue to support Officer Shea and his family as he remains on leave while still
    recovering from injuries sustained from the incident.
