Uxbridge 150 Sesquicentennial
Exhibit July through September2017
What was Uxbridge Township like 150 years ago? Come to this exhibit to find out
how our Township has changed over the last 150 years.
The Leaskdale countryside, Lucy Maud Montgomerys first home in Ontario, became
a place that she loved and it inspired many of her novels. After moving from Prince
Edward Island in 1911 as the new wife of Rev. Ewan Macdonald, it was in Leaskdale
that Montgomery became a mother and wrote 11 of her 22 novels, creating new works
centred on the irrepressible Anne and creating the beloved character Emily. Our season
runs May to December. Come for a tour of the beautifully restored manse, stay for one
of our fabulous Luncheon Teas or attend one of our many special events
