The teacher reflects on what they have learned about standard 5, which focuses on using student data meaningfully. They have learned to collect student data through common assessments aligned to standards and units, and by having students set goals and reflect on their work. The teacher's greatest strength is aligning instruction with assessments and collaborating with colleagues on assessments and student progress. Focusing on student goal setting and reflection has improved the class and benefited data collection, as it allows students to provide feedback to the teacher.

What have I learned? What is my greatest strength in this standard and what area is in need of most improvement?
How has focusing on this standard helped me improve as a teacher?
While I have already discussed my struggles to use student data
meaningfully, I have learned to collect student data in several meaningful ways. At the start of this year my LA team created multiple common assessments for each standard and unit. These created assessments have driven my instruction. I have also learned to allow students to goal set and reflect on their work as means of assessment and data collection. My greatest strength in this standard is aligning classroom instruction with assessments as well as working with my building to look at assessments and progress. I think by starting the year with a list of all the assessments, I was able to align my instruction much easier, which has set my students up for success. I also regularly discuss assessments with my team, PLC, and other building staff. Focusing student goal setting and reflecting has definitely made my class more successful and benefited not only my students academic success, but my data collection. Getting students to set goals and assess their own learning and success has helped me become a better teacher by allowing my students to give me feedback. It is important to make students think about their thinking!
