RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Edmodo is a wonderful resource for students, parents, and teachers alike to have an online virtual
classroom. Teachers can treat Edmodo like an ever-changing media page where they can post classroom
newsletters, updates, assignments and assessments. The students can also utilize the website to create
their own personal page; similar to a Facebook layout, and can respond to class discussions, immerse
themselves in classroom media and weekly lessons, and take assessments to test their knowledge on
certain topics. Similarly, parents can keep track of their students assignment and weekly lessons, as
well as maintaining communication with teachers.

Google Cultural Institute is an amazing tool in the classroom that enhances history, art, current events,
and cultures with the use of media, readings and gazes into the past. With this tool, students will be
able to be submersed in historical content and can utilize this content in daily lessons and course work.

INTEGRATION IDEA - COLLABORATION

Edmodo would be a wonderful tool in my classroom. I would create a virtual classroom online so
students can remain active with classroom activities and their classmates, not only in school, but outside
of school as well. I would promote the use of online study guides that the students can create and share
with each other, in addition to discussion boards where students can discuss and debate current lesson
topics or literature they are currently reading. The students will also have an easy way to access the
weekly material, vocabulary, and practice assessments to test their knowledge to better prepare
themselves for the in-class assessments. This will also be a great way for parents to check in weekly
with what their students are learning, as well as get in touch with the teacher when needed. Parents will
know what is expected of their children and will be allowed access to their assessments and grades as
well.

Google Cultural Institute would give my students the ability to find diverse topics they are passionate
about while discovering current and relevant events that are related to their current lesson. For
example, upon having my students read The Diary of Anne Frank they can utilize this tool to read
about other Holocaust stories and submerge themselves into the time-period to get obtain a better
understand and a reason as to why we are reading the text and how it is important knowledge for today.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

I would rate my technology integration as a 3. In regards to the ISTE standards, it allows students to
collaborate with students, teachers and peers in and outside of the classroom. It allows them to be
innovative and have some control over their own learning and engagement. Edmodo alone gives
students the modern-day feel of social media, while maintaining educational and productive lessons. As
the teacher, I would guide the students and address dos and donts of using technology at home and in
the classroom. They would learn online etiquette and must uphold respect with other students, teachers
and parents alike, while still having the freedom to learn, study, and assess at a semi-controlled pace
with the rest of the class. They would be able to explore real world issues and pursue their individual
curiosities with the use of these tools in the classroom, and would have the ability to learn, create, and
explore something new on a daily basis.
