    1. Basic BLS treatments

    2. Assess the patients abdomen and document findings.

    3. Treatment:
    a. Place the patient in the position of comfort and administer oxygen by appropriate means if
    indicated.
    b. See HCFR BLS Airway Management Protocol for indications for oxygen

    4. ALS transport criteria:


    a. All patients presenting with the signs and symptoms of an acute abdomen or abnormal vital signs
    b. Abdominal surgery within the last 60 days (especially be mindful of patients who have had
    bariatric [obesity] surgery)
    c. Evidence of trauma
    d. Blood issuing from any orifice or bleeding into the skin
    e. Age less than 14 or greater than 65 yeas old
