The crowd jeered and spat ,
Whilst you hung on the cross with your arms outstretched,
Pleading to the Father for their forgiveness,
T ill the very end,

An Act of Love , despite the Pain ,the Humiliation and the Loneliness you faced,
When all your disciples
One by One they fled
Leaving you to bear the shame.

The crown of thorns placed on your head ,

By that vicious mob
Your hands nail -pierced , Your sinless body scourged
You o Lord took my place

Till my dying day , precious Lord let me never forget your love
And what it cost you
To redeem me from the pit of Hell.
2.SAMSON AND DELILAH
A story of Love,Passion and Betrayal

He was known ,
As the mighty man of valour
Who slew the Philistines
Thousand in one score
Strong and anointed
He was Samson
The leader of Israel

She was beautiful

Slim,dark-haired
Skin smooth as ivory
Eyes which spoke a thousand mysteries
A laugh which rippled
And left the men who heard it
Breathless…..

One day they met

He was smitten….
How could he know
The tragedy which would follow

With words of flattery

She cajoled Him
He seduced by her many charms
Divulged His Secret

They stormed the bedroom Chamber

Before the sun had risen
While she watched…
This man of might being taken
His locks shorn
His eyes blind and
His heart broken…..
3.HIS LOVE

There is no one here on earth

Who can love you like the Saviour
Who upon the Cross shed
His precious blood for our salvation
So that you and I may enter
His holy presence
Our wounds healed
Our lives cleansed
And spend eternity
With our Heavenly Father

4.VICTORY

Pursued by the strong Army

He fled the Palace gates with
Just his clothes on his back
To escape the King’s jealousy

Frightened and hurt he wandered

With only Faith in the God above
Who showered him with His Love
And give him his final Victory

King David spent his life

Many trials did he face
But he received from God above
His mercy and His Love

Dear Lord a storm has come

Raging into my life
Waging war against my soul
And I wish that I could die

Lord take me way from this wicked world

I pray that you will hear my cry

The story of Lazarus

He looked towards the house

Music and laughter was all he heard
The sound of merrymaking
Leading well into the night
A people with no cares
Leading a lifestyle of ease

These are the rich

Decked in all their finery
Inflamed with wine ,
Feasting on the fatted calf
Which is served at every meal
Would even a crumb be shared
With Lazarus who lay outside the gate
Begging for a tiny morsel
To ease his gnawing hunger

Another day dawns

His hunger rages unabated
The sun beats his back ,
The rain tears the rags on his body
Whilst the dogs , yes the dogs
Lick the sores on his feet
13.WHEN I SEE THE RAINBOW

When I see the rainbow

God’s Word comes to me
A promise that He made to Man
His covenant He said He’ll keep

Many many years ago

For all Man’s wickedness
God had no choice but to flood the earth
And purge the Evil that spread

In His mercy he spared Noah

The only righteous man at the time
The Ark was built at His command
To shelter Man and Beast

The flood raged on for days on end

Till God’s anger was appeased
He made a promise that we should hold dear
Never again to flood this Earth

So when I see the rainbow

I remember His promise to you and me
A promise that we should remember
And stay away from sin.

14.THE SECRET CLOSET

The morning dawns,

I climb out of Bed
Ready to face Yet another day
By His grace

Father I come to you

To express my Thanks
For your Everlasting kindness, compassion and Mercy
Which are new every morning

You welcome me with open arms

Longing to hear of my struggles, disappointments and heartaches
And Offer words of sweet comfort
Which are a balm to my soul

15.THE MANY MOODS OF THE SEA

Mountainous waves, dashing against the rocks

On a gloomy dark, and rainy day
The sky thunders, silver streaks fork their ways in the horizon
The wind howls as the rain slashes across the Sea.

Blue and white fleecy clouds adorn the sky

The water a brilliant aquamarine
Bright sunshine and seagulls flying
The sea and sky celebrates an awesome day.

Dawn and Dusk

The Sea turns a Silver Grey
Mysterious and enchanting
As a Mermaids’ Eyes

All these wonders created for all to enjoy and fear

Reflects the many moods of our Creator
16.THE SILVERSMITH

We enter his workshop

A place in Elkaduwa
Renowned for beautiful Kandyan Jewellery
A place where silversmiths of yore
Turned out ornaments for ancient Kings and Queens

I watch him at work

Refining Silver
Purifying it in the fire
Sweat on his brow
But
His eyes never once leaving
The Silver steadily burning in the fire….

I think of My Lord
The silversmith
Who moulds me…
Refines me……
Purifies me…..
Burning away the impurities in my Heart
Yet never ever once leaving my side
Till he sees His Image
Engraved in my Heart
A perfect work of art……
17.FORGIVENESS

She walked into the Dining Hall,

A complete stranger
Looking so different,
So out of place:

They all looked up, shocked ,stunned,outraged…

And a sudden hush fell.
How did she dare come in here,
They whispered
A place where only the righteous gather.

With tears streaming down her painted cheeks ,

she made her way,
towards her Messiah,
Oblivious to the stares and whispers of those so ready
To
Accuse her
judge her
condemn her ,
Their tongues filled with deadly poison….

With slave like devotion she washed his feet with her tears and wiped it with her hair…

“Did He not know what kind of a woman she was,

immoral
unclean
…..an outcast
They questioned Him ,demanding an answer
How could she touch him with those sin stained hands.

One answer was all He gave those accusing eyes,

She who is forgiven loves much.
18.THE LONELY ROAD OF LIFE

A lonely road stretches ahead

There is not a soul in sight
Only the Lord who holds my hand
To guide me through the night

Darkness and Danger

Lurk around the corner
But I need not be afraid
Because it is He who walks ahead

He takes me through the valley

Where only a few have been
Miracles and much more
Are all that I have seen

Guiding me through many snares

That Satan has laid for me
Jesus is near when I call Him
With Power he sets me free

20.WHEN I AM IN TROUBLE

Whenever I am in trouble
My Jesus leads the way
The words he puts into my mouth
He teaches me what to say

He is there when I call Him

Each plea He always hears
Words of comfort He offers me
He wipes away my tears

There is something I should know

The way out He said He'll show
There is absolutely nothing to fear
My Lord is always near
21.YES I WILL SING

I will sing to my Lord in times of Trial

For it is He who comes too me
Speaking words of sweet comfort
To love and set me free

I will cast my cares upon Him

No matter how how big they are
For I know for certain
They come under His Care

No burdens too big for Him

So in faith to Him I'll cling
And know that it is He who brings
An end to all my troubles within

22.THE LIGHT

Billowing waves of doubt

Assail my soul
The winds of trial
Howl in my ears
Fear grips my heart
As strength ebbs away
Giving reign to overwhelming sorrow

I look towards the lighthouse

Which shines its beacon of light
Illuminating the darkness
With its laser like beam

The bright light of my Saviour

Who guides me
Leads me
Rescues me
From drowning in the depths of
The treacherous blue sea of Life.
23.GODS JUDGMENT ON SIN

Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross... thou hast trodden down them all"
(Psalm 119:118-119

Sodom.the name
Conjures
A city steeped in Sin
A society abandoned to the devil
Speeding towards Hell

Honour,decency,reverence of life
Decayed
Justice and kindness
A distant memory
A society that sneered at virtue
Their hearts callused

What do we see today

In our country
A society gone mad??
Would God ever condone
The rape of an innocent
Would God never hear
The cry of murdered babes
Or turn a blind eye
On a persecuted saint

No ,Never
As he did
In that day
Our Holy Awesome God
Will now avenge…….
24.TO MY HEAVENLY FATHER

You redeemed me from the miry clay

You drew me out of deep waters
You rescued me from strong enemies
You battled the wars for me

You brought me victory in every situation

You told me not to fear
And today
I claim the promises made
Yes….I hold them very dear..

25.A LOVE THAT NEVER GROWS COLD

With each passing day

You reach out to me
Calling me to repentance
Pleading with me
To change my unfaithful ways
Promising me a rich heritage
Free of all bondages

Your love never grows cold

No matter whether I am young or old
Or how far I have strayed

If not for your love
And forgiveness
