Ceramic type microbial fuel cell

Q. How does it work?

A. The activity between glucose and electrogenic catalyzing bacteria generates electrons and
those electrons are collected at cathode to product current. Ceramic type membrane has macro
porous structure so it allows better transport for ionic activity.
Cathode - carbon/steel mesh, carbon cloth, carbon veil
Anode - carbon veil
Membrane - Earthenware, alumina ,mullite ,pyrophyllite ,terracotta
Type of bacteria - Acidophilic bacteria , other electro-active bacteria like geobactor
Power density - 0.23 mW/m2 to 0.45 mW/m2
