Directors Message
Today the director of the Rockingham-Harrisonburg
SPCA announced that they have appointed Elizabeth
Wilder as their new event coordinator.
Wilder has been working with the SPCA for 7 years
serving as the volunteer coordinator. She will now oversee
all future events and programs that the SPCA will hold as
well as working close with Bennett in maintaining the
success of the shelter. Wilder will begin her position May
1, 2016.
The SPCA has seen a lot of growth in Wilder over the
years and knows that she will do an excellent job as the
new coordinator. Taking on the coordinator position is
extensive and time consuming, including scheduling and
budgeting, but Wilder did not let this
stop
Spring 2016
This is something that Ive been working towards for awhile
now. I just appreciate how the SPCA gave me room to grow
and build. I see so many volunteers coming in just to help
around with the animals and by the next year theyre my co-
workers.
Lisa Bennett has been working with the SPCA for 21 years, first
volunteering at the age of 15. She commented on her love for
animals and how that love became an endeavor to get to where
she is today. It is not everyday that you come across an
organization that is equally concerned if not more about its
employees as its business. But I found that here and strive to
maintain that relationship. It is essential to success. The SPCA
is not just here to promote respect, compassion, education and
advocacy for animals but to provide that for its employees too.
Bennett wants this to remain a friendly and welcoming
environment for current employees as well as future ones.
You move and work as one or you do not at all. Bennett
thanks her employees for what they do and the hours they
commit to working with the animals, but also thanking
them for making her days at the shelter a little bit more
exciting.
