The document provides instructions for organizing a rugby workshop with 24 pupils divided into groups of 6 that rotate between playing a touch rugby game, coaching/refereeing, and participating in a scrum workshop. The scrum workshop involves discussing scrum safety and roles, practicing proper binding technique in groups of three, and potentially introducing hooking and full scrums into games. Regressions and progressions are suggested to modify the scrum difficulty.

Kit: Tackle pads. Organise pupils into groups of 6 o There should be 4 groups. o Two groups will play, one will coach/referee and the last will do the workshop. o Groups should rotate. Whilst the groups are playing a small game of touch rugby, (no tackles as this cant be properly supervised), the teacher should position themselves as to still see the groups and their workshop group. In the workshop the teacher should discuss the health and safety of being in a scrum, the roles of each player (found in position and roles), the calls of crouch, bind, set, and what to do. Use the resource cards as necessary. Pupils practice binding as a three. Once happy with the progress this team would sub in for the other team. Progressions: Introduce hooking for the ball. Practice binding to the other team and hooking for the ball. Introduce scrums into the games, with the nearest three players. Regression: Start the bind in a kneeling position.
