Applications of Electromagnetic Fields through Observation of Field Strength and

Current

The experiment was designed primarily to test the workings of electromagnetic

fields in terms of the metal cores effect on the relationship on current. Relevance of this

research can be described as the establishment of basic knowledge that can lead up to

future research on the same topic to expand the reach of the field, or expand an already-

existing topic. An electromagnet was constructed to produce a field that could be studied.

The results found that the relationship between the magnetic field and current is

linear in all cases. The slope was related to the conductive ability of the metal core. The

metal cores used were brass, aluminum, and iron. Iron was the most conductive to these

metals, meaning that it would have the strongest magnetic field. To conclude, the metals

tested where not the same, and aluminum and brass were statistically the same.
