Fractions of Amounts

at finding fractions of
amounts by using one very
simple strategy: divide by
denominator and multiply
by numerator.

It is important to
remember that we look
carefully at how many
parts there are to the

Section A

In each of the following, you need to remember to divide by the

denominator and multiply by the numerator. Use separate

Section B

Once again, in each of these examples, make sure that you

record your answers using pounds. When dividing by large
numbers that have a zero on the end, for example 180 divided
by 9: solve this as 18 divided by 9 and remember to put the
zero or place holder back on the end of your answer.

Section C

In these questions, you will probably want to use some spare

paper to solve. Please attach any scrap paper or working out to
this booklet! Mr Birch likes to see working out! You could also
use a calculator but please show your working out.

E.g. in question number 1 below: (207 9) x 7
