Educational Philosophy
Many of my teachers have had very positive influences on me, this is something
that I would like to impart on my students. This is why I went into teaching. As a teacher,
I hope to equip my students with the necessary skills and knowledge to live happy,
healthy lives. In my classroom I want students to feel safe as well as have the freedom to
express themselves in any situation. I will create a learning environment that is
beneficial for all students regardless of their background or current situation. I recognize
the importance of student- teacher relationships, because of this I will go beyond
teaching in the classroom. Extracurricular activities provide the time to connect with
your students in a new and more comfortable environment, I would love to continue to
be involved in coaching sports or volunteering in any way that will also encourage my
students to actively participate in their school community.
Science Philosophy
We see science all around us, including ordinary things, such as the way that our
ovens work and how our bodies move, to even the most extraordinary things like walking
on the moon. This is one of the reasons that I want to become a science teacher, I am
constantly in awe of how broad the subject is and how it continues to grow. This sense of
wonder is something that I cannot wait to share with future students. My sense of
astonishment translates into curiosity, which I believe is a big part of teaching science
and being interested in the subject. I find myself captivated by the subject and
constantly wanting more. By relating the concepts to everyday life and using experiential
activities I want to inspire my students to have the same passion and drive to get
answers as I have. I will use techniques such as discovery, examination and investigation
to foster lifelong learning skills and the love for science. Relating concepts to real life
experiences is something I will strive to do in order to make learning more relevant to
students.
